Book excerpt: At the great summer fair in the capital city of Sommerhjem, the evil Regent is forced to step down due to the calling of the Gylden Sirklene challenge, leaving the future of the country hanging in the balance. One year to the day the challenge is called, all nine pieces of the oppgave ringe must be delivered to the capital. Four are already there, but five more need to be found. Chance, a dreamer and adventure seeker, has been chosen by his family to return to Sommerhjem to retrieve a piece of the oppgave ringe his father hid before the family fled the country to escape certain demise. But what he thought would be a grand adventure turns out to be more than he bargained for; he is thrown into the brig on a smuggler's ship, and that only marks the beginning of his troubles. Meanwhile, Yara secures work in the royal library, where she secretly begins researching the whereabouts of a piece of the oppgave ringe her family was once charged with keeping safe. But what she eventually uncovers soon takes her and her fox companion, Toki, on a dangerous expedition to Sommerhjem's border. In this continuing fantasy, two seekers embark on separate journeys to find treasured objects and return them to their rightful place without any idea of where life is about to take each of them.
Download or read book Kingdom Journeys written by Seth Barnes and published by . This book was released on 2012-07-01 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you feel like you've been missing out on the abundant life? Most people do. If you take a look at the life of Jesus, you see that he called his disciples to follow him - on a physical journey, not just a spiritual one. Hundreds of books talk about our faith walk as a journey. But few delve into the subject of how a physical journey can reinvent and revitalize our spiritual journey with God. Kingdom Journeys is about the journeys we all take, presented in a series of "initiation steps" by disciples who are taking serious the call to leave everything and simply "go." This book is an exploration of an ancient spiritual discipline we must recover - if we're going to truly follow Jesus.

Book excerpt: Begin is a journey through the Scriptures designed to help someone simply understand the structure and context of the Bible. Ken Ham and Bodie Hodge compiled this critical resource which brings to light often difficult concepts through easy-to-understand commentary. Readers will enjoy a quick and concise presentation of the following core concepts with a brief summary of events and history in-between Genesis 1- 11 (The Foundation), Exodus 20:1-17 (The 10 Commandments), John (The Gospel), Romans (An Epistle from Paul to the Christians), and Revelation 21-22 (The Fulfillment in Heaven). New believers, seekers, and even skeptics can use Begin as a first step to building a consistent study of God’s Word. It is not intended to replace the Bible but to serve as a supplemental resource. Pastors and teachers will find this book helpful when leading congregants and students into a greater understanding and focus on the infallible message of God.

Book Synopsis Saints, Cure-seekers and Miraculous Healing in Twelfth-century England by : Ruth J. Salter
Download or read book Saints, Cure-seekers and Miraculous Healing in Twelfth-century England written by Ruth J. Salter and published by Boydell & Brewer. This book was released on 2021 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cults of the saints were central to the medieval Church. These holy men and women acted as patrons and protectors to the religious communities who housed their relics and to the devotees who requested their assistance in petitioning God for a miracle. Among the collections of posthumous miracle stories, miracula, accounts of holy healing feature prominently and depict cure-seekers successfully securing their desired remedy for a range of ailments and afflictions. What can these miracle accounts tell us of the cure-seekers' experiences of their journey from ill health to recovery, and how was healthcare presented in these sources? This book undertakes an in-depth study of the miraculous cure-seeking process through the lens of Latin miracle accounts produced in twelfth-century England, a time both when saints' cults particularly flourished and there was an increasing transmission and dissemination of classical and Arabic medical works. Focused on shorter miracula with a predominantly localised focus, and thus on a select group of cure-seekers, it brings together studies of healthcare and pilgrimage to look at an alternative to medical intervention and the practicalities and processes of securing saintly assistance.

Book Synopsis An Infinite Journey by : Dr. Andrew M. Davis
Download or read book An Infinite Journey written by Dr. Andrew M. Davis and published by Ambassador International. This book was released on 2014-01-09 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After we’ve come to faith in Christ, God leaves us in this world for a very clear purpose: his own glory. But how are we to glorify God for the rest of our lives? The Bible reveals that God has laid before every Christian two infinite journeys which we are to travel every day: the internal journey of growth into Christlike maturity, and the external journey of worldwide evangelism and missions. This book is a road map for the internal journey, laying out how we are to grow in four major areas: knowledge, faith, character, and action. In this book, we’ll learn how God grows us in knowledge, faith, character, and action. We’ll also discover that spiritual knowledge constantly feeds our growing faith, faith will transform our character, our transformed character will result in an array of actions more and more glorifying to God, and our actions will feed our spiritual knowledge. This upward spiral will lead us to become more and more like Jesus Christ in holiness. And not only will this book help us understand Christian growth in detail, it will also give us a passion to grow every day for his glory.
Book Synopsis My Journey to Safety by : Peter Abui
Download or read book My Journey to Safety written by Peter Abui and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-12-29 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My life was full of many unexpected experiences. Some were good, and some were bad. During that time of war, mostly bad times occurred more often than good times. Those good times didnt last longer. I think there is a reason why things happen to people, and as always there are results afterward, either good or bad. My hope all these years of war in South Sudan was that someday, there would be a joyful moment for me as the outcome of my horrible suffering. I do not have many good times to remember in my past life since the day I left South Sudan until the day I arrived in the United States of America. However, even then still, I always felt like I was missing something. Of course, indeed, part of me is missing: my whole family was not with me. I never gave up on myself when I was in that horrible situation. I resisted the pain I was facing. I wish of no ravage that I should do against my foes for what they did to me. I wish for the bad day to get over and hope for better tomorrow. I never except the weakness to engage my mind. Instead, I wish to preach the word of peace to my enemies for the sake of freedom in order to save the lives of the innocent. I wish to just speak out only the word of unification. I want to make the world aware of the war situation that was going on in my hometown and convey peace among the people and avoid more lives to be lost. War is wrong; we are all human beings with only one common goal: the soul. However, the only message you should be saying to your enemies is peace. Bear in mind that when you are torturing someone, you are torturing yourself as well. You might not feel it physically but emotionally, maybe not at the moment, but afterward, in the near future, when peace comes and when justice prevails. My parents used to tell me not to be afraid but to brave and strong. The fear one is the one got kill first in battle because they panic and run randomly into ambush.
