This is not another skeptical global warming polemic but an economic evaluation of how and why green energy will fail. The world has too many pressing needs. For the money Obama squandered on just a single bankrupt crony solar company, the U.S. could have prevented 300,000 childhood malaria deaths in poor countries. A thoroughly researched, heavily documented book by an expert in his field, it will demonstrate in meticulous detail how wasteful and economically inefficient Obamas green energy dead end future will be compared to other worthy alternatives. Its time to end the hysterical climate cynicism and get on humanitys side.

In advanced economies, with narrowing budget deficits, the average public debt ratio is expected to stabilize in 2013–14—but it will be at a historic peak. At the same time, fiscal vulnerabilities are on the rise in emerging market economies and low-income countries—on the back, in emerging market economies, of heightened financial volatility and downward revisions to potential growth, and in low-income countries, of possible shortfalls in commodity prices and aid. Strengthening fiscal balances and buttressing confidence thus remain at the top of the policy agenda. Against that backdrop, this issue explores whether and how tax reform can help strengthen public finances. Taxation is always a sensitive topic and is now more than ever at the center of policy debates around the world. Can countries tax more, better, more fairly? Results reported in this issue show that the scope to raise more revenue is limited in many advanced economies and, where tax ratios are already high, the bulk of the necessary adjustment will have to fall on spending. Mo Jamshidi has spent his professional career formalizing and extending the field of large-scale complex systems (LSS) engineering resulting in educating numerous graduates specifically, ethnic minorities. He has made significant contributions in modeling, optimization, CAD, control and applications of large-scale systems leading to his current global role in formalizing system of systems engineering (SoSE), as a new field. His books on complex LSS and SoSE have filled a vacuum in cyber-physical systems literature for the 21st Century. His contributions to ethnic minority engineering education commenced with his work at the University of New Mexico (UNM, Tier-I Hispanic Serving Institution) in 1980 through a NASA JPL grant. Followed by several more major federal grants, he formalized a model for educating minorities, called VI-P Pyramid where K-12 students(bottom of pyramid) to doctoral (top of pyramid) students form a seamless group working on one project. Upper level students mentor lower ones on a sequential basis. Since 1980, he has graduated over 114 minority students consisting of 62 Hispanics, 34 African Americans., 15 Native Americans, and 3 Pacific Islanders. This book contains contributed chapters from colleagues, and former and current students of Professor Jamshidi. Areas of focus are: control systems, energy and system of systems, robotics and soft computing.
