Download or read book Joan Miró written by Jacques Dupin and published by Ediciones Polígrafa S.A.. This book was released on 2009 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Considered one of the great artist of the 20th century, Joan Miro has bequeathed us a definitive body of work whose influence has continued to grow over the years. Miro did not paint dreams but instead , through his works, provided the spectator with certain elements so that he would be the one that dreamed. He never worked under the influence of hypnosis, drugs or alcohol. Nevertheless, his artistic personality and the way he represented on canvas what inspiration dictated to him led André Breton to exclaim: Miro is the most surrealist of us all!!. A creative force in the plastic field who felt an equal passion for the word, for the most daring poetic plays, a lover of objects and the bare truth of materials, Miro always revealed himself as an oneiric artist, a seeeker after the constellations that inspired some of his finest works. Jacques Dupin the main authority in Miro work details all those items in his amazing essay: The Birth of Signs. 72 illustrations
Book Synopsis Tate Introductions: Miró by : Iria Candela
Download or read book Tate Introductions: Miró written by Iria Candela and published by Tate Enterprises Ltd. This book was released on 2014-03-06 with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The bright colours and graphic strength of paintings by Joan Miro have made him an immensely popular modern painter, but the artist would have been extremely disappointed to see his work treated as little more than interior décor. In this accessible survey of the artist's life and career, Iria Candela explains the complex roots and darker shades that lie behind the evolution of Miró's work, from the culture of his Catalan homeland to his exposure as a young man to the latest experiments of the avant-garde in Paris and the rise of Fascism in Spain. She examines not only Miró's paintings but also his sculpture, prints and murals, quoting from many of the artist's own revealing statements. For anyone wanting to explore the legacy left by the artist who declared that he wanted to 'assassinate painting', this concise introduction is the perfect guide.

Book Synopsis Collaborative Form by : Thomas Jensen Hines
Download or read book Collaborative Form written by Thomas Jensen Hines and published by Kent State University Press. This book was released on 1991 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Collaborative Form attempts to show the nature and limits of works of art that are made up of two or more artistic forms. The first task of this book is to analyze and interpret a set of such combinations. Each chapter treats one collaborative work and attempts to show that the principles of collaboration are the same, whether the components are poetry and graphic works as in Lettera Amorosa by Rene Char and George Braque, poetry and music as in Herzgewachse by Maurice Maeterlinck and Arnold Schoenberg, or more complex sets that include painting, music, dance, lighting, and drama as in Der gelbe Klang by Wassily Kandinsky, Morder, Hoffnung der frauen by Oskar Kokoschka, and Triad by Alwin Nikolais. Hines breaks down disciplinary barriers and then emphasizes the effects of the interactions between the arts. The first step, in methodology, is that of refusing to make a priori commitments to the critical methodologies of the arts involved. Each art is treated from its own perspective, and each interpretation attends to interactions of the arts rather than to the contribution of any one art. Once the collaborative works are examined, the book shows that such works are similar to other art forms. They obey the laws of temporal necessity, non-addition, multiple interpretation, and unity that any poem, painting, or musical composition might be said to obey. Unlike other arts though, collaborative forms are unique examples of the combinative effects of the arts. In the process of interpreting individual works and attempting to summarize this form, we are forced to see beyond the conventions of the constituent arts.
