Download or read book Jesus as Healer written by Harold Remus and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1997-04-03 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 1997 book presents in readable, non-technical language the findings of scholarship on one important aspect of 'who Jesus was' - the many reports in the New Testament and other early Christian writings that Jesus performed healings. The book paints a picture of the sick and sickness in Jesus' world and the means available to deal with sickness. It shows how Jesus as healer fits - and doesn't fit - into that world. We see him as one of the many healers of his day, but set apart as a 'wounded healer' who in his own death achieves the ultimate 'healing', victory over death. In addressing the question 'did Jesus really heal?' the author provides readers with resources from biblical scholarship, medicine, sociology and anthropology to help arrive at their own answers to the question. The suggestions for further reading as well as the questions for discussion make this book ideal both for personal reading and for group study.

You’ll learn that healing is the will of God and that it is primarily a faith proposition on the part of the individual who receives. This book will show you how to receive and maintain healing and how total surrender and intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit brings healing and miracles. There are some who are bound and plagued by sicknesses, unaware of the truth that Jesus is a deliverer and others who lack the teaching, testimony, and manifestations of deliverance and healing. Jesus the Healer Has Not Changed is replete with testimonies from Apostle Oduro’s personal life and members of his ministries that will increase your expectation, ignite your faith, and reposition you for your healing and deliverance.
Book Synopsis Jesus as Healer by : Jan-Olav Henriksen
Download or read book Jesus as Healer written by Jan-Olav Henriksen and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2016-05-11 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Healings and miracles play a prominent role in the New Testament accounts of Jesus’ life and ministry. In the Western Christian tradition, however, Jesus’ works of healing tend to be downplayed and understood as little more than a demonstration of his divine power. In this book Jan-Olav Henriksen and Karl Olav Sandnes draw on both contemporary systematic theology and New Testament scholarship to challenge and investigate the reasons for that oversight. They constructively consider what it can mean for Christian theology today to understand Jesus as a healer, to embrace fully the embodied character of the Christian faith, and to recognize the many ways in which God can still be seen to have a healing presence in the world.

Download or read book Healer written by Zorodzai Dube and published by AOSIS. This book was released on 2020-12-31 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the established field of healing narratives in the New Testament by focusing on the remembered tradition regarding Jesus’ healings and comparing them with those of other healers, such as Asclepius. A sub-theme to the book is to investigate the reception of Jesus as healer in various African communities. The book exposes the various healing methods employed by Jesus such as exorcism, touch and the use of spittle. Like any other healing performances that reflect the healthcare system of a given culture, Jesus’ healings were holistic: healing the bodily pain, restoring households and combatting stigmatisation and marginalisation. The book demonstrates Jesus’ healing activities as “shalom” performances that seek to re-establish peace in all its social dimensions. With regard to the reception of Jesus as healer in the African context, the book elaborates the sacrificial lamb motif and the need for restoring a relationship with God. All the contributions in the book present a unique and original perspective in understanding Jesus as healer from an African healthcare system.
Book Synopsis Jesus Christ Heals by : Charles Fillmore
Download or read book Jesus Christ Heals written by Charles Fillmore and published by Jazzybee Verlag. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much has been written and said about the healing methods that Jesus used in His very striking cures of physical ills. The generally accepted theory is that they were miracles, but to this there have been many objections, among them Jesus' promise "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also." So many millions have claimed that they believed on Jesus, yet not only have they failed to heal others but they have gloried in sickness and finally death under the assumption that it was the will of God. Apparent evil is the result of ignorance, and when the truth is presented the error disappears. Jesus called it a liar and the father of lies. Men personalize good and evil in a multiplicity of gods and devils, but Truth students follow Jesus in recognizing the supreme Spirit in man as the "one God and Father of all."
Book Synopsis Jesus, the Best Capernaum Folk-Healer by : Zorodzai Dube

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes the established fields of orality, performance, and first-century Christian healthcare studies further by combining analogues of praise performances to Apollo, Asclepius, and those from the Dondo people of South Eastern Zimbabwe to propose that Jesus’s healing stories in Mark’s Gospel are praise-giving narratives to Jesus as the best folk healer within the region of Capernaum. The book argues that the memory of Jesus as the folk healer from Capernaum survived and possibly functioned in similar contexts of praise-giving within early Christian households. The book goes through each healing story in Mark’s Gospel and imaginatively listens to it through the ears of analogue from praise-giving given to Greek healers/heroes and similar practices among the Dondo people. The power, completeness, and effectiveness in which Jesus healed each of the mentioned conditions provoke praise-giving from the listeners to the best folk healer in the village. In each instance, while Mark is calling for attention to the new healer, more so, he is raving praise-giving.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ian Cowie sheds new light on what the healing miracles of Jesus were. Re-translating the original Greek of the Gospels, he carefully dissects the actions and words of Jesus and draws conclusions which are often at odds with current interpretations. He concludes that there is no justification for saying that 'miracles' break the laws of nature, but that such events are a natural result of using untapped human and divine resources in a universe that is totally consistent.

Download or read book Jesus the Healer written by Juan Serna S. T.L. and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2012-09 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a Eucharistic Holy Hour, we listen and meditate on the Word of God. After the Lord has spoken, we respond in faith and prayer. Jesus the Healer gives us words for our response in personal prayer. Father Juan Serna’s little book of “Eucharist-Inspired and other Meditations” comes from the heart of his own prayer and personal reflections. His prayers give words to those very real sentiments we experience when we try to touch but the tassel of Jesus’ cloak. His sketches, which accompany each section, likewise speak profound thoughts of prayer. The penetrating eyes of Jesus are like the two-edged sword that pierces the depths of humanity. Father Juan’s drawings are as much a prayer as the devotional words he writes. His drawings and words are prayers we can use to find Jesus the Healer. —Bishop Stephen E. Blaire

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Bible study, part of our popular Keys to the Bible series, will examine six of the Gospel stories in which Jesus healed those suffering from a variety of physical or spiritual afflictions. While healings demonstrate the love and compassion that Jesus has for each one of us, they are also a sign of the new creation he came to inaugurate—an announcement that the kingdom of God is at hand. Even today, supernatural healing gifts are meant to be a sign that God is present and active in the world today. This study will help you view Jesus' healings in a new way and encourage you to pray for healing for yourself, your family, and those you encounter each day.
