Book excerpt: Fear of the apocalypse that never comes! It is what holds a Jehovah's Witness power-bound by the Watch Tower Society in Brooklyn. Armageddon is always just a little way around the corner. Poul Bregninge in this, his second book on the Witnesses, presents a complete history and ideology of the Society and why it keeps a keen focus on the Day of Judgment. He tells of multiple "days of reckoning" that pass uneventfully and how each failure of Christ to reappear is reevaluated by the Society to foretell of yet another apocalypse still to come. It is the fear of that moment that keeps Witnesses firmly in the fold. Judgment Day is the carrot dangled before them. Every American knows the Jehovah's Witnesses, right? Those somber people who appear at our doors, offering literature and the everlasting salvation of our souls? What do we know about them? We see at our door their facades-their Society-devised disguises-directed to convert anyone willing to follow their Witness-ways of believing and living. In this book you will confront the thinking that motivates those beliefs. Poul's book is a comprehensive view of JW history, its upheavals and struggles, and a raw demonstration of the manipulation and cruelty dealt those it charges with expanding its membership. By keeping Judgment Day ever coming, the Watch Tower Society ensures a ready supply of workers to proclaim the ever-coming coming. The author dismantles their main biblical storage battery, Matthew 24, from which the movement takes their many "signs" of the impending end. His reinterpretation of these readings is a virtual bomb beneath the understanding they find in those key biblical texts. Poul Bregninge was born and presently lives in Copenhagen. He was raised a Witness but informally left the movement in 1959. In 1964 he published several letters, articles, and features about the Society that the Witnesses deemed unacceptable. A three-man committee expelled Poul. Two years later he published his first book, "Jehovas Vidner under anklage" (Jehovah's Witnesses Accused) in Danish. This book, "Judgment Day Must Wait, " is a massive reworking (two and one half times its size) of his first book, now propelled by many years of continuing investigation that brings the history to the present in a text edited for the American reader.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Its the Christmas seasonthe most wonderful time of the year for most people in River City, California. But for Jehovahs Witnesses Lawrence and Brad, its a time for them to try to explain the truth about this holiday season to the people of the community. Their earnest efforts may earn them ridicule, disagreement, or a door slammed rudely in their faces, but they persistand are sometimes able to find a mind and heart receptive to their urgent message about Jehovahs coming Kingdom. Whereas for Elders Skousen and Marshalltwo Latter-day Saint (Mormon) missionariesthe season is another opportunity to share their Churchs distinctive interpretation of the Christian gospel; but their efforts are often rebuffed, as well. In the course of their work, these two pairs of men engage in dialogue with traditional Christians, as well as members of the Church of Christ; the Community of Christ (RLDS); Seventh-day Adventists; and Oneness Pentecostalsnot to mention skeptics, atheists, and the increasing numbers of people who lack any particular religious beliefs. But when a local church brings in a researcher to give a series of lectures on Cultsand specifically targeting the Jehovahs Witnesses and Mormonsa confrontation is ensured, where theological and biblical concepts collide in a public forum. Who, if anyone, really has the Truth? Can one still discover the true meaning of Christmas in the midst of passionate disagreements over the validity of the holiday season? Are objections raised about the secularization and rampant commercialism of the modern celebration valid? Spend a holiday season (or any other season) with some interesting and intellectually-stimulating characters, as they explore these and other challenging questions. (Readers of the authors earlier novel, A Multicultural Christmas, will be pleased to see a brief reappearance of two characters from that book.)

Book excerpt: I Witness is a tell-all book about the authors family and how their family religion, Jehovahs Witness, destroyed and divided the family. The author, Paul J. Williams, delivers the shock-n-awe truths about the mental and emotional abuse, pain, struggles, and pressure that his family experienced as Jehovahs Witness. In his book, I Witness, Paul shares his dramatic and controversial conversion from Jehovahs Witness to Christianity. Paul describes his escape and the impact of leaving the Jehovahs Witness religion and changing faiths. This book provides true stories and life situations this family experienced as devout Jehovahs Witnesses and how the strict rules of the religion dismantled the family and destroyed valuable family relationships. Paul talks about his Father, who died at a young age over the religions controversial policy against blood transfusions, and how losing his Dad at an early age has affected his life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides convincing evidence that the end time prophecies found in the Holy Bible are indeed being fulfilled through the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. It proves this really is the kingdom that Jesus Christ and his Apostles spoke about in the New Testament. In the first century the city of Jerusalem was corrupted and its temple profaned. This book builds an overwhelming number of evidences proving the same thing has now happened in our modern history. After reading this book the man of lawlessness will be revealed and the disgusting thing will be seen entering the holy place. The new kingdom has been corrupted and the sanctuary of THE God profaned. God's actual name, Jehovah, has been defamed in a truly reprehensible manner. This book should help concerned family members help their own families and loved ones to now obey Jesus Christ's admonishment: "flee to the mountains, and let those in the midst of her withdraw". Luke 21:21.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Generally, Jehovah's Witnesses (JWs) are very pleasant to meet as they call at your home or stand by their literature advertising carts on high streets of cities and major towns. Furthermore, if you should decide to attend one of their meetings you will receive a very warm welcome. However, although, because of certain JW teachings the Churches do not consider them to be Christians, there are other reasons for people to be wary about getting involved with JWs. This is because all individual Jehovah's Witnesses are directed and under the control by a very powerful organization, namely the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society with its Governing Body and which decides what JWs must believe and the way they must act in various circumstances. For instance, a major well known doctrine is that of JWs refusing to receive blood transfusions in cases of medical emergency as well as the same refusal for their children. In fact, if such a tragedy occurs the individual JW will be monitored by certain Watchtower "elders" so that the individual complies with the Watchtower's policy. If they do not comply they are likely to be disfellowshipped and then be shunned by other JWs including their JW family members. This disfellowshipping is usually the result of an individual's being brought before a very secretive three-man court called a judicial committee where the accused person is not allowed to have any personal witnesses or even to bring or take notes. Furthermore, there is currently a sweeping under the carpet of the details of the Watchtower's general failure to report to the relevant secular authorities the many cases of paedophile activity by current JWs, including some elders. Because of the misapplication of a certain Bible text the victims of such paedophile unwanted attention are disbelieved by the bodies of elders, often then become disillusioned with the religion and so cease to be associated with the Organization. The final result for them is that they also are then shunned by JW family members and so-called-friends. All of this is very well documented and especially so after the Australian Royal Commission investigated this issue and found the Watchtower Society to have seriously failed these victims and leaving them in dire circumstances. So major questions here are: Should any organization have such power over its membership? Should the individual JW allow the Watchtower to act in such an authoritarian way over their interests, especially when such authoritarianism is not for the purpose of benefitting the average JW but only to build up the Watchtower's finances and property portfolio and its further control over JWs. This book looks at the rather unsavoury basic history of the Watchtower Society and shows that quite a number of its policies imposed upon its members to not actually have a true Bible basis and so leading JWs to do things that they would never naturally and ethically do.
