He showed it to me, and asked my opinion as to its publication after his decease. On examining it, I found it to contain very full records of the events through which Jamaica, and the Jamaica Mission of the Baptist Missionary Society, had passed during his long life, combined with records of his own personal experience and history. There appeared to be much information too valuable to be lost, and a picture of a true and successful missionary life that might be of advantage as an example to future generations. In reply to my suggestion that he should make arrangements to secure the publication of these papers, he at once urged me to undertake it.
