Book Synopsis Isabella's Journey by : Serafina Sammarco
Download or read book Isabella's Journey written by Serafina Sammarco and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2014-02 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Isabella Marie Sammarco (Oct. 7th, 1971 - July 29th, 1986) Isabella was known by her family and friends for her tremendous zest and respect for life; with a sparkle in her eyes and a contagious smile, she taught those around her to appreciate their lives and to love one another. Although she was very much aware from an early age that her life would be short, this knowledge did not stop her from living with a purpose and making each day count. Isabella was diagnosed at eight months with Thalassemia Major - a genetic blood disorder - that required her to have regular, monthly transfusions to survive. She fought vigorously to overcome the numerous obstacles that she encountered during her brief life, until her small body could fight no more. Isabella died two months short of her fifteenth birthday. This book is the heartfelt, truthful account of a brave soul and her dedicated family. It is a story that will touch all who read it and inspire those looking for guidance and hope.
Book Synopsis Isabella's Fables by : Antoinette Isabella
Download or read book Isabella's Fables written by Antoinette Isabella and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2003-11 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reading to a child is leading him/her into the world of a particular topic. The interpretations and explanations are fundamental in formulating a mind's image of all that is verbalized. What is read to a child is just as important as how it is read, and once a child steps into the words using his own imagination there is a stimulation that entices their want to hear more. Running alongside a lion in chase, or climbing to the very top of a huge redwood and seeing the entire world below, skipping along the ocean floor, or hearing a voice coming from a tree are just a few of the many trips your child will take in their journey through Isabella's Fables. And through the adventure there is a lesson to be learned. Unlike the fables of old, these stories are written in present day vernacular and the "moral of the story" is easily understood.

Book Synopsis Keats, Modesty and Masturbation by : Rachel Schulkins
Download or read book Keats, Modesty and Masturbation written by Rachel Schulkins and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-22 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Examining John Keats’s reworking of the romance genre, Rachel Schulkins argues that he is responding to and critiquing the ideals of feminine modesty and asexual femininity advocated in the early nineteenth century. Through close readings of Isabella; or the Pot of Basil, The Eve of St. Agnes, Lamia and ’La Belle Dame sans Merci,’ Schulkins offers a re-evaluation of Keats and his poetry designed to demonstrate that Keats’s sexual imagery counters conservative morality by encoding taboo desires and the pleasures of masturbation. In so doing, Keats presents a version of female sexuality that undermines the conventional notion of the asexual female. Schulkins engages with feminist criticism that largely views Keats as a misogynist poet who is threatened by the female’s overwhelming sexual and creative presence. Such criticism, Schulkins shows, tends towards a problematic identification between poet and protagonist, with the text seen as a direct rendering of authorial ideology. Such an interpretation neither distinguishes between author, protagonist, text, social norms and cultural history nor recognises the socio-sexual and political undertones embedded in Keats’s rendering of the female. Ultimately, Schulkins’s book reveals how Keats’s sexual politics and his refutation of the asexual female model fed the design, plot and vocabulary of his romances.
Download or read book Isabella d’Este written by Christine Shaw and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-03-01 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Isabella d’Este, Marchioness of Mantua (1474-1539), is one of the most studied figures of Renaissance Italy, as an epitome of Renaissance court culture and as a woman having an unusually prominent role in the politics of her day. This biography provides a well-rounded account of the full range of her activities and interests from her childhood to her final years as a dowager, and considers Isabella d’Este not as an icon but as a woman of her time and place in the world. It covers all aspects of her life including her relationship with her parents and siblings as well as with her husband and children; her interest in literature and music, painting and antiquities; her political and diplomatic activities; her concern with fashion and jewellery; her relations with other women; and her love of travel. In this book, grounded in an understanding of the context of the Italy of her day, the typical interests and behaviour of women of Isabella d’Este’s status within Renaissance Italy are distinguished from those that were unique to her, such as the elaborate apartments that she created for herself and her extensive surviving correspondence, which provides insights into all aspects of life in the major courts of northern Italy, centres of Renaissance culture. Providing fresh perspectives on one of the most famous figures of Renaissance Italy, Isabella d’Este will be of great interest to undergraduates and graduates of early modern history, gender studies, renaissance studies and art history.
