Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What happens when a woman dares to imagine herself a hero? Questing, she sets out for unknown regions. Lighting a torch, she elicits from the darkness stories never told or heard before. The woman hero sails against the tides of great legends that recount the adventures of heroic men, legends deemed universal, timeless, and essential to our understanding of the natural order that holds us and completes us in its spiral. Yet these myths and rituals do not fulfill her need for an empowering self-image nor do they grant her the mobility she requires to imagine, enact, and represent her quest for authentic self-knowledge. The Feminization of Quest-Romance proposes that a female quest is a revolutionary step in both literary and cultural terms. Indeed, despite the difficulty that women writers face in challenging myths, rituals, psychological theories, and literary conventions deemed universal by a culture that exalts masculine ideals and universalizes male experience, a number of revolutionary texts have come into existence in the second half of the twentieth century by such American women writers as Jean Stafford, Mary McCarthy, Anne Moody, Marilynne Robinson, and Mona Simpson, all of them working to redefine the literary portrayal of American women's quests. They work, in part, by presenting questing female characters who refuse to accept the roles accorded them by restrictive social norms, even if it means sacrificing themselves in the name of rebellion. In later texts, female heroes survive their "lighting out" experiences to explore diverse alternatives to the limiting roles that have circumscribed female development. This study of The Mountain Lion, Memories of a Catholic Girlhood, Coming of Age in Mississippi, Housekeeping, and Anywhere but Here identifies transformations of the quest-romance that support a viable theory of female development and offer literary patterns that challenge the male monopoly on transformative knowledge and heroic action.

Book excerpt: The book is a fantasy about animals, containing a lot of trivia, facts, fantasy, and a myriad of pun aspects of the animals. What might happen if, after the destruction of the human race, animals took over? This is a tale about the malicious murder of a few animals and the resulting chase, arrest, and prosecution of the perpetrators. It is told by an elephant to his grand calves. The story covers the murder and the investigation by Chief Inspector Bobby Bloodhound and his renowned team of detectives. They investigate the ant colonies, the beehives, the ocean, the bird sanctuary, the farm, and the wild jungle. There is a chase, a capture, and a court case to follow. Many human comparisons can be made from the behavior and actions of the animals involved.

Book excerpt: Giants of olden daysis about the titans of tall, the giants of greatness, and the children of the fallen angels as described in Genesis 6:2-8. For this is the story of gigantic, the real tall tale which is no fable. Just look up giant foot prints on You Tube in order to witness authenticated fossilized prints that are over four feet long. Neither are those huge people of yesteryear out of place in earth's timeline since all life on earth was made to be gigantic due to a satanictouch from fallen angels. Therefore please sit back and open your mind about realities that changed all of history. For the dead sea scrolls clearly say that God sent the flood to wipe away all of the evil that those giants wallowed in like humongous pigs in the dirtiest of mud. Please check out this book's free preview in order to see just how evil those giants of old really were. And as this text is read people shall quickly see that our world's demons are not fallen angels as most Christians have falsely believed. For it is clearly written that there are two kinds of demons, ones born on earth that haunt the earth, and the kind that were born in Heaven who haunt the heavenlies as powers and principalities of the most evil kind. Enjoy.........D.F.O.
