Is life at the Ho-Lee Noodle House becoming too hot to handle? Lana Lee’s plate is already plenty full. Running her family’s Chinese restaurant in Cleveland’s Asia Village is challenging on the best of days. But just when Lana thinks she might be able to catch her breath before the weekend—which she’s eager to spend with her equally overworked boyfriend, Detective Adam Trudeau—Lana witnesses a car accident in the parking lot. And now she has no choice but to get involved. June Yi, of Yi’s Tea and Bakery, is a serious businesswoman well-known for her heartlessness. But June meets her match when she rear-ends the Cadillac belonging to Mah Jong lover Mildred “Millie” Mao. As each woman curses—and threatens—the other, it becomes clear to Lana that trouble lies ahead. Still, who could have imagined that Millie would end up dead at the beauty salon? The evidence suggests that she was electrocuted while having a foot bath, and all eyes are on June. Can Lana find a way to solve this case before another fatality occurs in Asia Village? “Thoroughly entertaining...fun and delicious.”?RT Book Reviews

Book Synopsis Life on Th' Rockin' W by : Leon Willis
Download or read book Life on Th' Rockin' W written by Leon Willis and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2011 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I started the story of Life On Th' Rockin' W in 1964. I have always loved horses, worked horses, and had a passion to draw. With that combination, I began to create a story in the form of a comic strip, of a family's struggles, good times, and adventures on a ranch. After the completion of 16 pages, I submitted the idea of Life On Th' Rockin' W to The Tennessean to become one of their paper's comic strips. They rejected the idea and I returned home somewhat disappointed. Having the responsibility of supporting my family and helping my wife raise our seven children, I put my dream aside. In 2009, 45 years later, I resurrected my long neglected dream, the story of Life On Th' Rockin' W. The local weekly newspaper began to publish the comic strip and soon afterward had a dedicated following of readers. This book is a collection of the comic strip in its entirety. As the story unfolded there was a colt born, that was given the name "Sparky". There was actually a horse in my past named Sparky. I had big dreams for him, maybe the next Trigger. I had to sell him because I had to go to War. The new Sparky that was revealed in the comic strip is in memory of the original. The coloring book Sparky and Some Friends was created from the story of Life On Th' Rockin' W. Family, true to life characters, friends, and neighbors form the nucleus of the book, along with a host of horses and other animals. I hope you have a good visit with us.
Book Synopsis The Collected Letters of Robinson Jeffers, with Selected Letters of Una Jeffers by : James Karman

This book was released on 2015-07-15 with total page 1025 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of correspondence, the last in a three-volume edition, spans a pivotal moment in American history: the mid-twentieth century, from the beginning of World War II, through the years of rebuilding and uneasy peace that followed, to the election of President John F. Kennedy. Robinson Jeffers published four important books during this period—Be Angry at the Sun (1941), Medea (1946), The Double Axe (1948), and Hungerfield (1954). He also faced changes to his hometown village of Carmel, experienced the rewards of being a successful dramatist in the United States and abroad, and endured the loss of his wife Una. Jeffers' letters, and those of Una written in the decade prior to her death, offer a vivid chronicle of the life and times of a singular and visionary poet.

Book excerpt: The Truth Club is a tender, wry look at families, truth and love. Marriage seems to have stirred up all sorts of weird longings in Sally Adams. On the surface she seems to have everything she needs to be happy . . . So why is she guzzling so many chocolate biscuits and dreaming of elsewhere? She has good friends, an interesting job and an almost brand-new husband. Then a chance encounter with a stranger makes it all too clear that life could have been so different if she had followed her heart. She begins to wonder if the key to fulfillment lies not in the present but in the past. Over fifty years before, Sally's Great-Aunt DeeDee, the official black sheep of the family, disappeared. When Sally uncovers a scandal that has left deep fault lines in her family she begins to understand the legacy of lies and secrets that are echoed in her complicated relationship with her sister, April. As she unravels the mystery she begins to see what she has been hiding from. And she learns that to be who she truly is and to find her soul mate, she must be honest . . . and she must be brave.

Download or read book ACM, My Other Man written by Sue Fone and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-06 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This is a love story between a young emergency room nurse and her aide, a self-taught man from the hollers of West Virginia, fifteen years older. The story spans twenty years of their friendship: the games they played, the talks they had and the lessons they learned from each other. This is a heartfelt, poignant tale of a most unique relationship where role of teacher and student continually shifts from one to the other. Although often touched by death in her profession, when she lost ACM, her other man, she had no coping skills for her own grief; she was empty for months. In an effort to stay connected and able to feel him, she pulled out years of letters and pieced them together by date."--Publisher's description.
