Book Synopsis Informatics and Medicine by : P. L. Reichertz
Download or read book Informatics and Medicine written by P. L. Reichertz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 719 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The modern development of medicine has been characterized by the grow ing use of new technologies in health care delivery and research. As an empirical science, medicine is based on many types and quantities of information to recognize alterations, explore causes and apply cor rective action. Dealing with biological objects, signals have to be collected, processed and interpreted to recognize the state of this object. It is therefore understandable that data processing technology and informatics have been employed to a growing extent in medicine. The increasing economic repercussions of modern medicine lead also to the demand of ways and means to assess the system as such and to develop means for evaluation and regulation. However, the application of data processing to the medical field has very often grown in parallel to and remote from the development of in formatics and data processing in general. Furthermore, difficulties have occurred resulting from the differing concepts of reasoning, deci sion making and methodology. We therefore decided to start a series of seminars with the attempt to bring scientists from both medicine and informatics together to discuss basic principles of informatics and medicine and to attempt a synthesis between the problems in medicine and health care delivery and methods in informatics to approach a solu tion of these problems. This volume contains the lecture notes of the first seminar of this type.
Book Synopsis Mathematics for Informatics and Computer Science by : Pierre Audibert
Download or read book Mathematics for Informatics and Computer Science written by Pierre Audibert and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-03-01 with total page 672 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How many ways do exist to mix different ingredients, how many chances to win a gambling game, how many possible paths going from one place to another in a network ? To this kind of questions Mathematics applied to computer gives a stimulating and exhaustive answer. This text, presented in three parts (Combinatorics, Probability, Graphs) addresses all those who wish to acquire basic or advanced knowledge in combinatorial theories. It is actually also used as a textbook. Basic and advanced theoretical elements are presented through simple applications like the Sudoku game, search engine algorithm and other easy to grasp applications. Through the progression from simple to complex, the teacher acquires knowledge of the state of the art of combinatorial theory. The non conventional simultaneous presentation of algorithms, programs and theory permits a powerful mixture of theory and practice. All in all, the originality of this approach gives a refreshing view on combinatorial theory.

Book excerpt: Demonstrates the close links between construction, proof, and analysis of programs. Introduces the basic elements that allow proof and analysis of iterative programs to be carried out and introduces the concept of recursive programming. Also shows how a recursive program can be converted into an iterative program. Offers numerous, clearly presented examples.
Book Synopsis Intelligent Text and Image Handling by : André Lichnerowicz
Download or read book Intelligent Text and Image Handling written by André Lichnerowicz and published by Elsevier Publishing Company. This book was released on 1991 with total page 1032 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The storage, retrieval and dissemination of the non-structured information found in text, image and sound is the subject of this proceedings. This field is developing rapidly - as the entire information technology industry is a convergence of computing, telecommunications and multimedia techniques. Conditions are continually improving, enabling the needs of users for extensive and convivial access to information to be satisfied. The contributions to this volume encompass, on one hand, recent scientific research, and on the other, demonstrations of prototypes resulting from recent research, as well as the most innovative new products appearing on the market.

Book Synopsis Integrated Discrete Production Control by : Lucas Pun
Download or read book Integrated Discrete Production Control written by Lucas Pun and published by Elsevier Publishing Company. This book was released on 1992 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integrated Discrete-Production systems are a new concept which are proving vital in aiding integrated discrete production activities to achieve their optimum efficiency. This book has been written primarily to establish methods for solving analysis and synthesis problems which arise in the progressive integration of intelligent discrete-production controls in modern manufacturing, and to provide useful theories covering such integrated controls. Topics reviewed include industrial artificial-intelligence systems (IAIS), their range of possible applications, analyses of the problems they are designed to solve, and the methods by which they can be created. Various aspects of IAIS, which may be either completely automated systems (such as robots) or decision-aid systems (such as computer-aided design systems) are discussed. The many facets of creating a successful IAIS include knowledge of automation techniques, control theory, and skill in artificial-intelligence techniques, particularly the transformation of automatic-control or decision-aid processes into computational processes. At present these skills are usually found in different people, this volume shows how the various skills can be combined to create a compact IAIS that answers current needs. The work is intended for engineers interested in the field whose background may be mechanical, industrial, electronic or control engineering, or computing. And secondly to teachers offering research level lectures, who can use the book to construct a course on Integrated Discrete-Production Control.
