Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Thermodynamic Tables of the Fluid State Helium-4 presents the IUPAC Thermodynamic Tables for the thermodynamic properties of helium. The IUPAC Thermodynamic Tables Project has therefore encouraged the critical analysis of the available thermodynamic measurements for helium and their synthesis into tables. This book is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses the experimental results and compares with the equations used to generate the tables. These equations are supplemented by a vapor pressure equation, which represents the 1958 He-4 scale of temperature that is defined in terms of the vapor pressure of helium-4. The second chapter are devoted to various equation of state used for the determination of thermodynamic properties. The third chapter contains IUPAC Tables, including their construction, limits, use, and accuracy. This book will be of value to physical chemists and researchers in the field.

Book excerpt: This book forms the proceedings of the 11th International Conference of the Properties of Steam, conducted in 1989 in Czechoslovakia. The session provided an international forum for the dissemination of information on recent progress in experiment, theory and formulation of the properties of steam and aqueous systems in the power industry during the past five years. The papers reflect present knowledge of the thermophysical properties of pure ordinary and heavy water to the properties of aqueous solutions, to the power cycle chemistry, to corrosion in power plants.

Download or read book Thermophysical Properties of Chemicals and Hydrocarbons written by Carl L. Yaws and published by William Andrew. This book was released on 2014-06-20 with total page 1000 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Compiled by an expert in the field, the book provides an engineer with data they can trust. Spanning gases, liquids, and solids, all critical properties (including viscosity, thermal conductivity, and diffusion coefficient) are covered. From C1 to C100 organics and Ac to Zr inorganics, the data in this handbook is a perfect quick reference for field, lab or classroom usage. By collecting a large – but relevant – amount of information in one source, the handbook enables engineers to spend more time developing new designs and processes, and less time collecting vital properties data. This is not a theoretical treatise, but an aid to the practicing engineer in the field, on day-to-day operations and long range projects. Simplifies research and significantly reduces the amount of time spent collecting properties data Compiled by an expert in the field, the book provides an engineer with data they can trust in design, research, development and manufacturing A single, easy reference for critical temperature dependent properties for a wide range of hydrocarbons, including C1 to ClOO organics and Ac to Zr inorganics
Book Synopsis Multiparameter Equations of State by : Roland Span
Download or read book Multiparameter Equations of State written by Roland Span and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a basis for printed property charts and tables, empirical multiparameter equa tions of state have been the most important source of accurate thermodynamic property data for more than 30 years now. However, due to increasing demands on the accuracy of thermodynamic property data in computerised calculations as well as the availability of appropriate software tools, and the ever increasing computer power, such formulations are nowadays becoming a valuable tool for everyday work. This development has substantially increased the number of scientists, engi neers, and students who are working with empirical multiparameter equations of state, and it continues to do so. Nevertheless, common knowledge on this kind of thermodynamic property models and on the ongoing progress in this scientific discipline is still very limited. Multiparameter equations of state do not belong to the topics which are taught intensively in thermodynamic courses in engineering and natural sciences and the books and articles where they are published mainly deal with the thermodynamic properties of certain substances rather than with the theoretical background of the used equations of state. In contrast to this, my concern mainly was to give a survey of the theoretical background of multiparameter equations of state both with regard to their application and their development.
Book Synopsis Thermodynamic and Transport Properties of Organic Salts by : Paolo Franzosini
Download or read book Thermodynamic and Transport Properties of Organic Salts written by Paolo Franzosini and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermodynamic and Transport Properties of Organic Salts is concerned with the thermodynamic and transport properties of organic salts, namely, pure salts, mixtures, and solutions. The transport properties of pure molten salts and binary mixtures of molten salts with organic ions are given, along with the transport properties of organic salts in aqueous solutions. This book is divided into three sections and opens with a discussion on the statistical treatment and of computer simulation methods for molten salts as well as their results for pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) data. The PVT data for organic molten salts determined experimentally are considered, and the thermal properties as well as the melting mechanism of pure salts are described. A method by which PVT data at high pressure can be estimated from those at low pressure with sufficiently high accuracy is also outlined. The next section deals with salt mixtures, their phase diagrams, and their transport properties. The final section looks at the transport properties of organic salts in aqueous solutions; thermodynamic quantities of micelle formation; and formation of lyotropic liquid crystals by organic salts. Two appendixes showing the structure of the pure solids and the use of the melts in electrochemical studies are included. This monograph will be a useful resource for organic chemists.

Download or read book Ionisation Constants of Inorganic Acids and Bases in Aqueous Solution written by D. D. Perrin and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-09-14 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ionisation Constants of Inorganic Acids and Bases in Aqueous Solution, Second Edition provides a compilation of tables that summarize relevant data recorded in the literature up to the end of 1980 for the ionization constants of inorganic acids and bases in aqueous solution. This book includes references to acidity functions for strong acids and bases, as well as details about the formation of polynuclear species. This text then explains the details of each column of the tables, wherein column 1 gives the name of the substance and the negative logarithm of the ionization constant and column 2 gives the temperature of measurements in degree Celsius. This book presents as well the method of measurement and the literature references that are listed alphabetically at the end of the tables. Chemists will find this book useful.

Book Synopsis Chemical Synthesis Using Supercritical Fluids by : Philip G. Jessop
Download or read book Chemical Synthesis Using Supercritical Fluids written by Philip G. Jessop and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-07-11 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For 'better solutions' - this practical guide describes how to take advantage of supercritical fluids in chemical synthesis. Well-established in extractions and materials processing, supercritical fluids are becoming increasingly popular as media for modern chemical syntheses. Historically, the application of compressed gases has been restricted mainly to the production of bulk chemicals. In the last decade, however, research has turned to exploiting the unique properties of supercritical fluids for the synthesis of fine chemicals and specialized materials. Now that the necessary equipment is more readily available, the use of supercritical fluids should become more widespread in both laboratory and industrial scale syntheses. More than merely a concise introduction to the properties of supercritical fluids, here leading experts give a thorough, up-to-date account of chemistry in these alternative media. In-depth scientific commentary, detailed reaction protocols, descriptions of necessary equipment, and an outline of spectroscopic techniques add to the value of this handbook aimed at innovative synthetic chemists.
