This book was released on 2020-08-13 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2019 im Fachbereich Didaktik - Allgemeine Didaktik, Erziehungsziele, Methoden, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der interkulturellen Orientierung des Fremdsprachenunterrichts (FSU) bzw. Landeskundeunterrichts (LKU).

Book Synopsis A Practical Guide for Translators by : Geoffrey Samuelsson-Brown
Download or read book A Practical Guide for Translators written by Geoffrey Samuelsson-Brown and published by Multilingual Matters. This book was released on 2010-03-24 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the fifth revised edition of the best-selling A Practical Guide for Translators. It looks at the profession of translator on the basis of developments over the last few years and encourages both practitioners and buyers of translation services to view translation as a highly-qualified, skilled profession and not just a cost-led word mill. The book is intended principally for those who have little or no practical experience of translation in a commercial environment. It offers comprehensive advice on all aspects relevant to the would-be translator and, whilst intended mainly for those who wish to go freelance, it is also relevant to the staff translator as a guide to organisation of work and time. Advice is given on how to set up as a translator, from the purchase of equipment to the acquisition of clients. The process of translation is discussed from initial enquiry to delivery of the finished product. Hints are given on how to assess requirements, how to charge for work, how to research and use source material, and how to present the finished product. Guidance is given on where to obtain further advice and professional contacts. This revised edition updates practices in the translation profession and considers the impact of web-based translation offerings. Industry and commerce rely heavily on the skills of the human translator and his ability to make intellectual decisions that is, as yet, beyond the capacity of computer-aided translation.

Book Synopsis Autonomy and Independence in Language Learning by : Phil Benson
Download or read book Autonomy and Independence in Language Learning written by Phil Benson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-06-06 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The topics of autonomy and independence play an increasingly important role in language education. They raise issues such as learners' responsibility for their own learning, and their right to determine the direction of their own learning, the skills which can be learned and applied in self-directed learning and capacity for independent learning and the extents to which this can be suppressed by institutional education. This volume offers new insights into the principles of autonomy and independence and the practices associated with them focusing on the area of EFL teaching. The editors' introduction provides the context and outlines the main issues involved in autonomy and independence. Later chapters discuss the social and political implications of autonomy and independence and their effects on educational structures. The consequences for the design of learner-centred materials and methods is discussed, together with an exploration of the practical ways of implementing autonomy and independence in language teaching and learning . Each section of the book opens with an introduction to give structure to the development of ideas and themes, with synopses to highlight salient features in the text and help build upon the material of previous chapters.

Book Synopsis Second Language Identities by : David Block
Download or read book Second Language Identities written by David Block and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2014-09-11 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Second Language Identities examines how identity is an issue in different second language learning contexts. It begins with a detailed presentation of what has become a popular approach to identity in the social sciences (including applied linguistics) today, one that is inspired in poststructuralist thought and is associated with the work of authors such as Anthony Giddens, Zygmunt Bauman, Chris Weedon, Judith Butler and Stuart Hall. It then examines how in early SLA research focussing on affective variables, identity was an issue, lurking in the wings but not coming to centre stage. Moving to the present, the book then examines in detail and critiques recent research focussing on identity in three distinct second language learning contexts. These contexts are: (1) adult migration, (2) foreign language classrooms and (3) study abroad programmes. The book concludes with suggestions for future research focussing on identity in second language learning.
