This book was released on 1970 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Lindstedt perturbation method is applied to the motion of an artificial Earth satellite that moves along a geodesic of the Schwarzschild metric of general relativity. The purpose of this analysis is to determine the extent to which general-relativistic effects are detectable in range measurements of Earth-orbiting spacecraft.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts, which has appeared in semi-annual volumes since 1969, is de voted to the recording, summarizing and indexing of astronomical publications throughout the world. It is prepared under the auspices of the International Astronomical Union (according to a resolution adopted at the 14th General Assembly in 1970). Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts aims to present a comprehensive documentation of literature in all fields of astronomy and astrophysics. Every effort will be made to ensure that the average time interval between the date of receipt of the original literature and publication of the abstracts will not exceed eight months. This time interval is near to that achieved by monthly abstracting journals, com pared to which our system of accumulating abstracts for about six months offers the advantage of greater convenience for the user. Volume 13 contains literature published in 1975 and received before August 15, 1975; some older literature which was received late and which is not recorded in earlier volumes is also included. We acknowledge with thanks contributions to this volume by Dr. J. Bouska, who surveyed journals and publications in the Czech language and supplied us with abstracts in English, and by the Common wealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (C.S.I.R.O.), Sydney, for providing titles and abstracts of papers on radio astronomy. We want to acknowledge valuable contributions to this vol ume by Zentralstelle ftir Atomkemenergie-Dokumentation, Leopoldshafen, which supported our ab stracting service by sending us retrospective literature searches.
Book Synopsis The Development of an Artificial Satellite Theory Using a Power-law Atmospheric Density Representation by : Max Herbert Lane
Download or read book The Development of an Artificial Satellite Theory Using a Power-law Atmospheric Density Representation written by Max Herbert Lane and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The methods of canonical transformations and variation of parameters are used to obtain a description of the motion of an artificial earth-satellite under the combined influences of gravity and atmospheric drag. This development has the general features of the procedure introduced by Brouwer-Hori (1961), but the nonrotating spherical exponential model atmosphere of the Brouwer-Hori theory is replaced by a nonrotating spherical power function model of the atmosphere. The use of a power function model atmosphere permits the equations of motion to be integrated without expanding the density function in a series. Thus, the associated convergence problem for low perigee heights, which appears in the Brouwer-Hori theory, is avoided. The development is most conveniently carried out through the introduction of an angle variable which effects a significant simplification in the integration process. The two parameters of the power density function appear as constants in the final integrated equations. They are to be chosen to fit the power function to the best available atmospheric data.

Book excerpt: "Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts" appearing twice a year has become oneof the fundamental publications in the fields of astronomy, astrophysics andneighbouring sciences. It is the most important English-language abstracting journal in the mentioned branches. The abstracts are classified under more than a hundred subject categories, thus permitting a quick survey of the whole extended material. The AAA is a valuable and important publication for all students and scientists working in the fields of astronomy and related sciences. As such it represents a necessary ingredient of any astronomical library all over the world.

Book excerpt: From the reviews: "Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts has appeared in semi-annual volumes since 1969 and it has already become one of the fundamental publications in the fields of astronomy, astrophysics and neighbouring sciences. It is the most important English-language abstracting journal in the mentioned branches. ...The abstracts are classified under more than a hundred subject categories, thus permitting a quick survey of the whole extended material. The AAA is a valuable and important publication for all students and scientists working in the fields of astronomy and related sciences. As such it represents a necessary ingredient of any astronomical library all over the world." Space Science Reviews#1 "Dividing the whole field plus related subjects into 108 categories, each work is numbered and most are accompanied by brief abstracts. Fairly comprehensive cross-referencing links relevant papers to more than one category, and exhaustive author and subject indices are to be found at the back, making the catalogues easy to use. The series appears to be so complete in its coverage and always less than a year out of date that I shall certainly have to make a little more space on those shelves for future volumes."
