Book Synopsis Policies, Programmes, and Strategies for Tribal Development by : Nishakar Panda
Download or read book Policies, Programmes, and Strategies for Tribal Development written by Nishakar Panda and published by Gyan Publishing House. This book was released on 2006 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A plethora of literature is available and various studies have been undertaken on different aspects of tribal development. But very few on the analysis of tribal problems vis-à-vis programmes/policies for their development has remained more or less unexplored. The present study has attempted to plug this critical gap. In this book the author has delved deeper into the genesis of tribal problems, critically examined the programmes for their development in the past and present and offered some valuable insights for lifting them out of the morass of poverty and stagnation. It has traced successive shifts in tribal development policies and strategies at different points of time. A thumbnail picture has been presented on impact of the programmes on the stakeholders through case studies conducted in a remote district of a poverty ridden state. The results of the field study tend to conceptualise that despite input in terms of money and material and the so called coveted efforts and endeavours of public servants, there is an abysmal mismatch between the objectives and achievement. We are still far away from the point of their conscientisation. The study will be of immense academic and practical worth. The comprehensive analysis and critical review presented in this book on an important aspect of tribal development and finally the policy prescriptions suggested make it imperative reading for economists, anthropologists, planners, policy makers, administrators and members of the academic and research organizations.
Download or read book Gloom to Glory written by Indira Dutta and published by Allied Publishers. This book was released on 2016-02-29 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume offers an insight into the socio-economic profile of tribes in the states of Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh. It looks into the various facets of the way of living of the tribes dwelling in these states. The effectiveness of tribal development projects in both the states have been analysed on several parameters including Work Participation Rate, literacy, housing and access to portable water, incidence of diseases and nature of employment, etc. It is commendable that Gujarat has fared better in terms of tribal development as a result of constant efforts of the state as well as central government policies. On the other hand Andhra Pradesh still lags far behind in the race. With the active participation of government, people and civil societies we dream of a new dawn for tribal people where they can march from Gloom to Glory with dignity.

Book Synopsis Strategies for Increasing Productive Employment in Developing Countries with Special Reference to Sierra Leone by : Dr. Ibrahim B.S. Sesay

Sesay and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-12-08 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book as pointed out by Professor Singer in his preface discussed divergent development problems facing developing countries. Participants of the seminar from various African countries brought in case studies from their own countries as comparison with the Kenya case study, where the seminar was held. As a result of this comparative study, field trips were organized by the seminar authorities. In view of these facts and experiences gained from this seminar, I was sufficiently stimulated for my task to write this book based on similar lines, but with special reference to Sierra Leone. My past experiences as a Labor Officer in the Ministry of Labor in Sierra Leone have, in no small way, also contributed to the success of the completion of this book for industrial relations readers to have interest in it. On joining the Personnel and Administration Department of the Standard Bank, I was moved to incorporate in my book a chapter on the role of banking particularly the role of Standard Bank formerly known as the British Bank of West Africa in Sierra Leone. Readers will also find it in one of the chapters current economic development taking place in Africa, particularly regional groupings, for example, the Mano River Union between Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia and The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the now defunct East African Economic Community. For this reason, this book will be of tremendous use to planners and economists, bankers, industrialists, teachers, and various people from all works of life concerned with the development of their countries, but it is more particularly useful to Sierra Leoneans because of the many references related to Sierra Leone.
