Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My name is Chris Fox, and I was born with Tourette's syndrome and obsessive-compulsive disorder. In the past, I constantly battled getting bullied in school, which eventually led to substance abuse and a life that was out of control. I wasn't living anymore; I was trying to survive. My life was filled with turmoil and I almost lost it numerous times, until I met the woman of my dreams. She accepted my Tourette's and OCD, but I almost lost her due to my out of control lifestyle. I was in too deep and I had to choose to walk alone or walk with God. I surrendered to God and encountered the Holy Spirit. The Spirit revealed that I had a special gift to make others laugh, and I needed to put all of my trust in God to pursue my dreams. After living such a painful past, I knew I had made the biggest decision of my life.

Book excerpt: Who inspires us? Students from The Young Women's Leadership School in the Bronx answer this question in this compelling collection of stories. From the student-written introduction: Every one of us has someone. That someone is a person who moves you to do your best. For example, that someone may help you win a math contest or a spelling bee. There are those who motivate us to follow the will of doing right. As TYWLS students, we selected that someone; we selected someone who we can call Wonder Woman. A Wonder Woman is someone who guides you, inspires you to be a better person, and tries to protect you from harm. These are the qualities that we encountered throughout our time with them.

An education was the only way to change that." "...Hearing those phrases "It's a girl" and "You may now kiss the bride" made me think, "I am now a wife and a mother...never again a student"." "The desks sure hadn't changed, but in the past 20 years, I sure had." Non-traditional students face challenges well beyond academia. In this anthology, adult learners share their personal journeys. This was a story that was created when I took my niece to college. A dragonfly decided to ride most of the day with us from one stop to the next. I thought it would make a cute children’s story. The Heavenly Patch. My granddaughter developed an eye irritation and had to wear a patch on her eye reluctantly. I thought it would be the awesome opportunity to discuss how God allows both good and bad things to grow but in the end only lets the good shine through. Why Oh Why. My grandchildren are always asking the question why. I thought it would be a great opportunity to put a play on words that would grab children’s attention and keep them interested. Basketball Joe on the Go. When my son was little, he loved to play basketball. It’s still his sport today. It was at the point that he would sleep with his basketball just to get a head start on the next day. I thought it would be fun to create a fun way to look at Joseph without his basketball and the perception of others who always associated him with what was attached to him. A Yellow Bird on my Shoulder. This story gives a glimpse of my grandson’s day in the park when he was introduced to a few birds, in particular, this yellow bird who decided to stop and chat with him for a while. It was an opportunity how children and animals connect in a way without words. Three Daddy Stories. Daddy, Can You Swing with Me? Daddy, Do You Talk to God? and Daddy, I Love You are all three stories that give insight into the important roles dads play and how children connect with them. I was thinking of my grandchildren and their relationship with their dad. Breathe a Rhyme NOLA (New Orleans, Louisiana). This story in particular is really dear to my heart. It’s a play on words with rhyme and rhythm. It’s a call for the city of New Orleans to relax and feel the rhythm of the city. It was written especially for the children, given all the social ills and barriers that prevent them from being children as a part of my Breathe a Rhyme NOLA project for school-age children.

Book excerpt: Attractive Medha Gujral and renowned filmmaker, Shekhar Kapur, ended their high-profile marriage in a us Hazari divorce court in New Delhi. Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota had two infamously unsuccessful marriages behind him. When Medha and Anup met, a series of failed relationships and a passion for music was the only common ground between them. But as man and woman, they became inseparable. The arrival of precious baby Aryaman multiplied their happiness. However, this unbridled bliss was rudely truncated when Wedha was diagnosed with a debilitating congenital heart disease in 2000. Since then the Jalotas have seen it all a chordae of her mitral valve cut by mistake in a US hospital, an emergency open-heart surgery, a lifesaving heart transplant and a hospital check-in scheduled in New York on, believe it or not, 9/11 in 2001. But, despite a decade and more of dwindling health, near-encounters with death, emotional oscillations and spiralling medical bills, Anup and Wedha celebrate every moment of their life together. Heartfelt: The Inspirational Story Of Medha Anup Jalota is a living statement of how the mind can baffle, even heal the body, when medical science gives up on you. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each day we are embarking upon another yeara new opportunity to really look at our life, how we are living it, and decide if we like what we are observing. We have even a greater opportunity to improve our lives and be happier than we have heretofore imagined. We can start today, not by looking back, or by looking ahead, but simply looking within and paying attention. If we keep writing and mentally rehearsing the same old script, the scenes of the play will be repetitious. If change is what we want, then we must rewrite the script. The Bible states it is done unto us as we believe. How complicated is that? Take inventory, check out what the mind is inwardly telling you, and without doubt you will know precisely what you believe. It requires us to be fully present with ourselves, like the good shepherd watching and taking care of his flock. Remember, it serves no one to be beaten up or put down. Each day has a lifetime within itself. Endless possibilities! This book is designed to encourage all the readers to be their authentic self and to know that being in Love with Gods creation is not sinful.

This book was released on 2020-08-01 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Personal story telling is a powerful and interesting medium through which one can share experiences, insights, successes, and difficulties in meaningful contexts. Teaching in general, and mathematics teaching in particular, is much more than what meets the eye. Most people have only experienced teaching from the vantage point of a student and have impressions of teachers and teaching that are simplistic and usually totally incorrect. The lives of mathematics teachers are varied and contrary to what one might think they are. The journeys of exemplary in-service teachers are not linear; there are many bends, potholes, and detours through which they have navigated. The "road conditions" of teaching are fodder for the 12 untold stories collected in this volume, whose authors graduated from a special four-year undergraduate mathematics teacher preparation program, containing innovative components, many of which are revealed through the experiences described in their stories. The range of narratives vary in every possible way, from the reasons they became mathematics teachers, to the number of years teaching, to the experiences encountered while teaching, to the different roles they have assumed throughout their careers. Nevertheless, one strand permeates all of the stories: their passion for what they do and their ability to reflect on early college experiences that contribute to their performance. These inspiring narratives will shed light on the developmental processes of mathematics teachers, what it means to teach mathematics, and the components of a secondary mathematics teacher preparation program that can contribute to their expertise. Praise for The Inspirational Untold Stories of Secondary Mathematics Teachers: This lovely book contains personal stories about the process of becoming a mathematics teacher and the challenges and rewards of the early years of teaching. These stories highlight that the path to teaching is often indirect, rocky, and filled with doubts. But these poignant stories are powerful because they are so honest. I wish I’d read these stories before I experienced some of the joys and challenges of my early years of teaching because they would have prepared me for the roller coaster of emotion associated with entering this complex but beautiful profession. I think these stories will be helpful when working with prospective and early career teachers. Randolph Philipp Professor of Mathematics Education School of Teacher Education, San Diego State University Immediate Past President, Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE) This is a book about real people and true stories; the narratives are really insightful and truly inspirational. It is not only a book that those involved in teacher preparation programs may find useful and informative to read, but also a book that could provide insights and inspiration to those who are exploring what it is like to be a teacher. The journey of each of these success stories, despite the diverse starting point of each, speaks volumes of the importance of an effective teacher preparation program that not only nurtures but also provides support for the growth of the preservice teachers. The narratives in this book are certainly a testimonial to what we often hear–Teachers are more often made than born. Ngan Hoe Lee Associate Professor, Mathematics & Mathematics Education National Institute of Education, Singapore
