Book Synopsis An Intelligent Inspection Planning System for Prismatic Parts on CMMs by : Slavenko M. Stojadinović
Download or read book An Intelligent Inspection Planning System for Prismatic Parts on CMMs written by Slavenko M. Stojadinović and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-02-09 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines an intelligent system for the inspection planning of prismatic parts on coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). The content focuses on four main elements: the engineering ontology, the model of inspection planning for prismatic parts on CMMs, the optimisation model of the measuring path based on an ant-colony approach, and the model of probe configuration and setup planning based on a genetic algorithm. The model of inspection planning for CMMs developed here addresses inspection feature construction, the sampling strategy, probe accessibility analysis, automated collision-free operation, and probe path planning. The proposed model offers a novel approach to intelligent inspection, while also minimizing human involvement (and thus the risk of human error) through intelligent planning of the probe configuration and part setup. The advantages of this approach include: reduced preparation times due to the automatic generation of a measuring protocol; potential optimisation of the measuring probe path, i.e., less time needed for the actual measurement; and increased planning process autonomy through minimal human involvement in the setup analysis and probe configuration.

Book Synopsis Highway Construction and Inspection Fieldbook by : Alberto Munguia Mireles
Download or read book Highway Construction and Inspection Fieldbook written by Alberto Munguia Mireles and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2014-11-03 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maintaining complete, comprehensive, detailing records of every process or deliverable items is fundamentally essential to the efficient control of the work, to the achievement of all Company and Project objectives and to the management of the potential risks and opportunities that could be encountered during the prosecution of the work. Any company is taking a great risk if the Inspector, Supervisor or Leadsmen is unable to recognize that one of the greatest problems about the daily field report is that the information in them will not be needed if there is not a problem. However, when and if a problem arises the information logged on the Daily Field Report will be of great importance when dealing with the problem. This field book is a tested methodology that if used well and daily will provide consistent information to the user, but also to upper management. This field book aggregates procedures used by roadwork experts and it has been designed considering the fact that personnel on site is not always well versed on writing documents. This is a step by step collection of information that will document the minimum data required to create a useful construction daily report.

Download or read book Underwater Inspection and Repair for Offshore Structures written by John V. Sharp and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-04-01 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: UNDERWATER INSPECTION AND REPAIR FOR OFFSHORE STRUCTURES Benefit from a much-needed, up-to-date handbook on underwater inspection and repair processes and technologies Underwater Inspection and Repair for Offshore Structures fills a gap in the literature to provide an overview of the inspection and repair processes for both steel and concrete offshore structures. Authors and noted experts on the topic John V. Sharp and Gerhard Esdal guide readers through the reasons why inspection and repair are performed and how both are linked to the management of structural integrity, statutory requirements, and various types of damage. The book addresses critical topics, including the execution and planning of inspection and repair, the tools and methods used, and their deployment underwater. The authors put particular focus on steel and concrete offshore oil and gas installations, but the content is also applicable to the substructures of offshore wind turbines. Underwater Inspection and Repair for Offshore Structures is complementary to the authors’ book Ageing and Life Extension of Offshore Structures, also from Wiley. This important book: Covers current inspection and monitoring techniques to evaluate existing structures Includes coverage of robotic (ROV) inspection and repair methods Provides an overview of repair and maintenance techniques applicable to the splash‐zone and underwater operations Written for engineers, designers, and safety auditors working with offshore structures. Underwater Inspection and Repair for Offshore Structures is a comprehensive resource for understanding how to effectively inspect and repair these vulnerable structures.

Book Synopsis Bridge Inspection Practices by : George Hearn
Download or read book Bridge Inspection Practices written by George Hearn and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 2007 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This synthesis reports bridge inspection practices in the United States and selected foreign countries. The synthesis is a collection of information on formal inspection practices of departments of transportation (DOTs). These are primarily visual inspections and they provide data to bridge registries and databases. For U.S. inspection practices, this synthesis reports on inspection personnel, inspection types, and inspection quality control and quality assurance. Staff titles and functions in inspection programs are reported, together with qualifications and training of personnel, formation of inspection teams, and assignment of teams to bridges. Inspection types are described in terms of their scope, methods, and intervals. Quality control and quality assurance programs are reviewed in terms of the procedures employed, staff involved, quality measurements obtained, and the use of quality findings in DOT inspection programs. Foreign practices are presented in the same organization of inspection personnel, types, and quality programs. Comparisons of U.S. and foreign inspection practices are included. Information was obtained from a questionnaire sent to U.S. state transportation departments, similar questionnaires modified individually for transportation agencies in selected foreign countries, and formal documents used by transportation departments and agencies. These documents primarily included bridge inspection manuals, inspection training manuals, and technical memoranda, but also included blank forms for inspections, DOTs job descriptions for inspectors, and descriptions of inspection training courses. Overall, this synthesis includes information from forty U.S. state transportation departments and from roads agencies in eight foreign nations (Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Norway, South Africa, Sweden, and the United Kingdom). The synthesis also includes, in an appendix, information from a few provincial and municipal transport agencies in Canada.
