Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In revising the text opportunity has been taken to introduce SI units throughout. An Appendix has been included which contains tables of SI units and a table of conversion factors for use when consulting data in non-SI units. Chapter 19 now includes experiments demon strating the use of ion-exchange and solid-liquid chromatography_ Exercises involving colorimetry have been included in Chapter 17. These techniques are introduced as part of a complementary exercise where their relevance is seen as part of a complete piece of work. Minor improvements have been made to some of the experimental procedures and we are grateful to those who have made helpful suggestions in this respect. G. PASS H. SUTCLIFFE iii Preface to the First Edition The student of inorganic chemistry is fortunate in having a wide choice of textbooks covering the descriptive and theoretical aspects of the sUbject. There is no comparable choice of textbooks covering practical inorganic chemistry. Moreover, there is a tendency for many students to draw an unfortunate distinction between chemistry taught in the lecture room, and laboratory work. Consideration of these points prompted the preparation of this book, in which we have attempted to emphasize the relationship between theory and practice.

Download or read book Inorganic Chemical Preparations written by Felix Lengfeld and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-25 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Inorganic Chemical Preparations This manual was written for the classes in Inorganic Preparations at the University of Chicago. The course is intended to familiarize advanced students with the methods and processes used in making inorganic compounds, and serves at the same time as a review in General Chemistry. It is supposed that the student who has finished the course is able without further assistance from an instructor to make any inorganic preparation. An attempt has been made to introduce all processes generally used, and at the same time to avoid repetition. Book Synopsis Inorganic Substances by : Derek William Smith
Download or read book Inorganic Substances written by Derek William Smith and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1990-01-18 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inorganic Substances is complementary in its approach to conventional inorganic chemistry textbooks. Written with the undergraduate in mind, it gives an introduction to descriptive inorganic chemistry, a systematic survey of the chemistry of the elements according to the Periodic Classification. In this way, the reader acquires a firm grasp of the principles which underlie which inorganic substances can be made, their preparations, structures, chemical reactions and physical properties. The book presents theory as a background to the facts of inorganic chemistry, rather than as an end in itself. It does not concentrate on structural detail or reaction mechanisms but stresses the interplay between thermodynamic and kinetic considerations in understanding stability. The ways in which the various theories of structure and bonding are related are thoroughly dealt with throughout. The approach of this book makes it a useful companion to any intermediate inorganic chemistry course. It should also be useful to other science students, especially earth and material scientists who need a good grounding in modern inorganic chemistry.

Book Synopsis Modern Inorganic Synthetic Chemistry by : Ruren Xu
Download or read book Modern Inorganic Synthetic Chemistry written by Ruren Xu and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-02-11 with total page 810 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern Inorganic Synthetic Chemistry, Second Edition captures, in five distinct sections, the latest advancements in inorganic synthetic chemistry, providing materials chemists, chemical engineers, and materials scientists with a valuable reference source to help them advance their research efforts and achieve breakthroughs. Section one includes six chapters centering on synthetic chemistry under specific conditions, such as high-temperature, low-temperature and cryogenic, hydrothermal and solvothermal, high-pressure, photochemical and fusion conditions. Section two focuses on the synthesis and related chemistry problems of highly distinct categories of inorganic compounds, including superheavy elements, coordination compounds and coordination polymers, cluster compounds, organometallic compounds, inorganic polymers, and nonstoichiometric compounds. Section three elaborates on the synthetic chemistry of five important classes of inorganic functional materials, namely, ordered porous materials, carbon materials, advanced ceramic materials, host-guest materials, and hierarchically structured materials. Section four consists of four chapters where the synthesis of functional inorganic aggregates is discussed, giving special attention to the growth of single crystals, assembly of nanomaterials, and preparation of amorphous materials and membranes. The new edition’s biggest highlight is Section five where the frontier in inorganic synthetic chemistry is reviewed by focusing on biomimetic synthesis and rationally designed synthesis. Focuses on the chemistry of inorganic synthesis, assembly, and organization of wide-ranging inorganic systems Covers all major methodologies of inorganic synthesis Provides state-of-the-art synthetic methods Includes real examples in the organization of complex inorganic functional materials Contains more than 4000 references that are all highly reflective of the latest advancement in inorganic synthetic chemistry Presents a comprehensive coverage of the key issues involved in modern inorganic synthetic chemistry as written by experts in the field

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Introduction to Chemical Preparations: A Guide in the Practical Teaching of Inorganic Chemistry In presenting to the public this translation of Professor Erdmann's book, it is hoped that in this form, which is more serviceable to the English-speaking student, it may aid in advancing the recognition due so important an adjunct in laboratory instruction in chemistry as that of the subject of inorganic chemical preparations. It is gratifying to see that recognition is being given to inorganic chemical preparations, by the introduction of work of this nature among the courses of some of our educational institutions. It is particularly desirable that this subject be given a broader scope than has hitherto been afforded it; for it gives to the student a specially broad field in which to acquire chemical manipulation of a quite varied nature. Then, too, with such a wisely chosen and diversified list of experiments as Professor Erdmann has made use of, the opportunity for the observation of phenomena of different kinds lends itself admirably to the development of chemical thought in a perfectly natural way.
