Book excerpt: This book gives an overview of the current state of the art of combinatorial organic synthesis. While the main focus is on multicomponent and multigeneration strategies using polymeric supports, there is also a Chapter on solution strategies using polymer-grafted reagents which allow minimisation of work-up procedures. Some of the most important strategies and tools are presented and summarised, with an explanation of the pivotal role of organic synthesis in the creation of diversity.
Book Synopsis Biphasic Chemistry and The Solvent Case by : Jean-Philippe Goddard
Download or read book Biphasic Chemistry and The Solvent Case written by Jean-Philippe Goddard and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-01-09 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biphasic Chemistry and The Solvent Case examines recent improvements in reaction conditions, in order to affirm the role of chemistry in the sustainable field. This book shows that those who work within the chemistry industry support limits for the use of toxic or flammable solvents, since it reduces the purifications to simple filtrations. Thanks to commercial scavengers, solid phase syntheses are now available to all. Fluorine biphasic catalysis enables extremely efficient catalyst recycling and has a high applicability potential at the industrial level. This book also reviews the many studies that have shown that water is a solvent of choice for most synthetic reactions. Particular traits can be obtained and the effects on thermodynamics make it possible to operate at lower temperatures, thereby achieving energy savings. Finally the great diversity of application of the reactions without solvents is illustrated.
Book Synopsis Combinatorial Chemistry by : Günther Jung
Download or read book Combinatorial Chemistry written by Günther Jung and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-07-11 with total page 634 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story of success goes on and on - with a new book on combinatorial chemistry, edited by Gunther Jung! Combinatorial chemistry is a proven time- and resource-saving synthetic method of outstanding importance for industrial processes. Compound libraries help to save time and money, especially in the search for new drugs, and therefore play a pivotal role in solving the problem of the worldwide increasing demand for new and more active drugs. Not only substances, which are of interest for pharmaceutical chemistry, but also materials, catalysts, and biomolecules such as DNA or oligosaccharides are readily available with high structural diversities. The broad scope of combinatorial sciences is reflected by this book, edited by Gunther Jung: The synthetic methods discussed range from solid-phase to solution-phase synthesis, from preparations of small molecules such as amines or alcohols to those of complex biomolecules. Feasible methods, efficient techniques, new trends in automation, and state-of-the-art fast instrumental analytical and screening methods are presented with many practical tips and tricks for everybody working in combinatorial chemistry. This is the book written by specialists for specialists and for everyone aspiring to become an insider! It is an indispensible source of information for researchers working in organic synthesis, catalysis, biochemistry, and biotechnology, pharmaceutical and clinical chemistry, material sciences, and analytical chemistry.
Book Synopsis Solid-Phase Organic Synthesis by : Patrick H. Toy
Download or read book Solid-Phase Organic Synthesis written by Patrick H. Toy and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-01-10 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents both the fundamental concepts and the most recent applications in solid-phase organic synthesis With its emphasis on basic concepts, Solid-Phase Organic Synthesis guides readers through all the steps needed to design and perform successful solid-phase organic syntheses. The authors focus on the fundamentals of heterogeneous supports in the synthesis of organic molecules, explaining the use of a solid material to facilitate organic synthesis. This comprehensive text not only presents the fundamentals, but also reviews the most recent research findings and applications, offering readers everything needed to conduct their own state-of-the-art science experiments. Featuring chapters written by leading researchers in the field, Solid-Phase Organic Synthesis is divided into two parts: Part One, Concepts and Strategies, discusses the linker groups used to attach the synthesis substrate to the solid support, colorimetric tests to identify the presence of functional groups, combinatorial synthesis, and diversity-oriented synthesis. Readers will discover how solid-phase synthesis is currently used to facilitate the discovery of new molecular functionality. The final chapter discusses how using a support can change or increase reaction selectivity. Part Two, Applications, presents examples of the solid-phase synthesis of various classes of organic molecules. Chapters explore general asymmetric synthesis on a support, strategies for heterocyclic synthesis, and synthesis of radioactive organic molecules, dyes, dendrimers, and oligosaccharides. Each chapter ends with a set of conclusions that underscore the key concepts and methods. References in each chapter enable readers to investigate any topic in greater depth. With its presentation of basic concepts as well as recent findings and applications, Solid-Phase Organic Synthesis is the ideal starting point for students and researchers in organic, medicinal, and combinatorial chemistry who want to take full advantage of current solid-phase synthesis techniques.

Book Synopsis Relaxin 2000 by : Geoffrey W. Tregear
Download or read book Relaxin 2000 written by Geoffrey W. Tregear and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first international forum on relaxin was a workshop held in Hawaii in 1980. This was followed by the Kroc Foundation conference in Santa Ynes, California in 1981 and then the First International Congress on the Hormone Relaxin in Florence in 1982. After a hiatus of several years, the Second International Congress on the Hormone Relaxin was held in Adelaide in 1994. Since that time, the enormous advances in molecular biology and protein chemistry have led to a stellar growth in relaxin research. Novel sites of action of the hormone have been elucidated, numerous new mammalian primary structures determined, more detailed mechanisms of action postulated, the control of relaxin secretion better understood, non-pregnant roles of the hormone identified, and, importantly, relaxin-related peptides (particularly INSL 3 and 5) identified and possible synergistic actions with relaxin proposed. A raft of novel clinical applications of relaxin has also been explored. Together, these exciting developments made the time ripe for a third international conference. We were therefore delighted to welcome many colleagues, old and new, at Relaxin 2000, the first international forum on relaxin and related peptides in the new Millennium. This conference, which we hope will now be held every four to five years, was held at the Cable Beach Inter-Continental Resort at the delightful old pearling town of Broome in the far north-west of Australia from 22-27 October, 2000.
