Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A psychologist explores the human psyche’s tendency toward fragmentation and a plan to restore a healthy self. In this debut book, Litvin argues that the human psyche tends, often as a response to trauma, to shatter into disjointed parts. This can be a normal and even salutary psychological mechanism, especially when employed to defensively sequester the mind from overwhelming pain. But the mind can overreact to distress, leading to a self so addled with internal fissures that unhappiness, anxiety, confusion, and a deficit of self-esteem can ensue. Fortunately, the author contends, the splintering of one’s self can be remedied by establishing a dialogue between the parts, hence producing a “congruence” that results in the harmony of a “Utopian collective”: “The solid identity is a unique structure of the psyche where the fragments are aligned together in common goals and attitude.” In order to illustrate his chief points, Litvin concocts a fictional case study that chronicles the life of soldier Stepan Kryvoruchko, who fled the authoritarian ideology of the Soviet Union and suffered from a “shattered identity” as a consequence. The author vividly personifies the scattered shards of Stepan’s mind, and the process whereby he heals destructive “splitting” through a reconstructive unification. Litvin compellingly assesses the political dimension of his theory, and the “virus of radicalization” that can infect both individuals as well as body politics. Author also includes helpful literary analogies, drawing a connection between critique of totalitarian collectivism and Dostoyevsky’s novelistic dissection of the issue. This volume also expands upon the author’s idea of sailing as a metaphor for introspective search, and provides a broader account of the nature of individual equilibrium; these concrete illustrations are of great instructional value.

It specifically states that a universal religion is impossible, but a Universal Experience is not only possible, but also necessary. This Universal Experience is Love. Universal means that all of the billions of people who have passed through this world since time began and all of the people who are here now (seven billion) would know God. God is Love. To know Gods Love within is to know God. Where learning ends, there is Love. Love is not learned. There was never a time in which you knew it not. Once this new perception of God is accepted, then everything changes. The quiet Voice of Love will help you to reinterpret everything you have been taught as fearful and that makes you feel guilty and will change them to... only what is loving is true. There are no rules and regulations to obey. You need do nothing. The Power of Love will set you free. It is not through any of your efforts. Here is the ultimate release, which everyone will one day find in his own way, at his own time. Think about this: If Love is the primary focus of your life, what are you going to do wrong? - Fear God and keep His commandments becomes Know God and accept His Certainty. According to Wikepedia, it is estimated that there are approximately 4,200 religions in the world today. I say But the Greatest of These is Love.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In these Talks, given in India and Saanen, Krishnamurti speaks to the necessity for a new way of looking, thinking and being in the world. "What is the effect or value of an individual changing? How will that transform the whole current of human existence? What can an individual do?...... there is no such thing as an individual consciousness; there is only consciousness of which we are a part. You might segregate yourself and build a wall of a particular space called the `me'. But that `me' is related to the whole, that `me' is not separate. And in transforming that particular section, that particular part, we will affect the whole of consciousness. And I think this is very important to realize: that we are not talking about individual salvation or individual reformation, but about being aware of the particular in relation to, the total. Then out of that realization comes action which will affect the whole."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A fascinating read for anyone with an interest in the graphic novel, its origins, and its continuing evolution as a literary art form.” —Midwest Book Review When Art Spiegelman’s Maus won the Pulitzer Prize in 1992, it marked a new era for comics. Comics are now taken seriously by the same academic and cultural institutions that long dismissed the form. And the visibility of comics continues to increase, with alternative cartoonists now published by major presses and more comics-based films arriving on the screen each year. Projections argues that the seemingly sudden visibility of comics is no accident. Beginning with the parallel development of narrative comics at the turn of the 20th century, comics have long been a form that invites—indeed requires—readers to help shape the stories being told. Today, with the rise of interactive media, the creative techniques and the reading practices comics have been experimenting with for a century are now in universal demand. Recounting the history of comics from the nineteenth-century rise of sequential comics to the newspaper strip, through comic books and underground comix, to the graphic novel and webcomics, Gardner shows why they offer the best models for rethinking storytelling in the twenty-first century. In the process, he reminds us of some beloved characters from our past and present, including Happy Hooligan, Krazy Kat, Crypt Keeper, and Mr. Natural. “Provocative . . . examine[s] the progress of the form from a variety of surprising angles.” —Jonathan Barnes, Times Literary Supplement “A landmark study.” —Charles Hatfield, California State University, Northridge, author of Alternative Comics: An Emerging Literature “A succinct and savvy cultural history of American comics.” —Hillary Chute, University of Chicago

Book excerpt: ANOTHER GRACE defines a special relationship with our Heavenly Father that is available to all Christians. Everyone, who has truly been born again, should willfully and deliberately choose to stand within this all-important state of grace that is available and accessible to all of God's children. God has provided His children a special place of refuge where all Christians can take shelter from the storms, trials and tribulations of life and enjoy the peace that only God can give; a peace that the world cannot give, and it cannot take it away. This is a real place and it is found within God's word. If we are to live victoriously and persevere as Christians in this world that is so unfriendly to Christians, we must take our stand in the Word of God, and we can safely abide under His wings.

Book excerpt: In this volume, Krishnamurti takes great care to elucidate this necessity of a revolution within our consciousness where the problem lies before we expect any kind of revolutionary change outside of ourselves. Krishnamurti posits that if the politicians and scientists wanted to end starvation in the world it could be done." It could be done, but they are not going to do it as long as their thinking is based on nationalism, on motives of their own personal profit. And even if this far-reaching outward change were brought about, it seems to me that the problem is much deeper." "The problem is not merely starvation, war, the brutality of man to man; it is the crisis in our own consciousness. Fundamentally the problem lies within." (p. 295)

There is not a difficulty between lovers, parent and child, employer and employee, neighbours and nations that cannot be healed by True Sight. True Sight is the antidote to confusion and suffering. True Sight is a frequency of thought consciousness that dissolves the conditioned and fearful mind, allowing full access to the awareness and divine energy of the soul consciousness and infinite intelligence of heaven. Up until now, your conditioned mind has been controlling much of what your life has become. Each new day is the sum of what you have previously allowed to occur in your mind. This mind and the concept it holds of you continues to create much of who you are, what you have, and what you will become, but only if you passively allow it. Through the applications of the principles of True Sight, you will be able to see and direct your life through Gods eyes. True Sight will give you profound peace, leading you to the most enlightened and deliberate experience in your current dimension and the next. -Saint Francis
