Book Synopsis The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events (A Seth Book) by : Jane Roberts
Download or read book The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events (A Seth Book) written by Jane Roberts and published by Amber-Allen Publishing. This book was released on 2012-04-01 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seth has repeatedly stressed the concept that we create our own reality according to our individual beliefs. But how do our realities merge and combine to form mass reactions such as the overthrow of governments, the birth of a new religion, wars, epidemics, earthquakes, and new periods of art, architecture, and technology? In this pioneering work, Seth explores the connection between personal beliefs and world events. He pinpoints the unconscious, and often negative, beliefs pervading science and religion, medicine and mythology, and offers thought-provoking reflections on Darwinism, Freudianism, religions, cults, and medical beliefs. With fascinating implications, Seth asserts that the personal impulses we are often taught to see as dangerous, chaotic, or contradictory, are instead crucial to the best interests of the species and the natural world, for they lead us to live “not only as loving caretakers, but as partners with other species.” “Only people who trust their spontaneous impulses can be consciously wise enough to choose from a myriad of probably futures the most promising events....” — Jane Roberts, Speaking for Seth

Download or read book Dzokchen written by B. Alan Wallace and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2024-11-19 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Düdjom Rinpoché was renowned for being among the foremost scholars in the Nyingma tradition. With his vast erudition, he wrote forty volumes of texts, which include classic scholarly texts as well as pith instructions, the latter of which you will find in this book. In addition to being a great scholar and contemplative, he was also a great bodhisattva, or mahāsattva, who inspired countless people to devote themselves to the practice of Dharma, with a special emphasis on Dzokchen. Like his predecessor, Düdjom Lingpa, Düdjom Rinpoché was also a great tertön, or treasure revealer, as illustrated in his root verses, which form the basis of his commentary in this volume. The treasures revealed by Düdjom Lingpa and Düdjom Rinpoché together form what is known as the Düdjom Tersar - the New Treasure tradition of the Düdjom lineage-which in turn was passed on to Gyatrul Rinpoché, as well as many other distinguished lamas who became disciples of Düdjom Rinpoché. Within this book, you will find Düdjom Rinpoché's pith instructions in the form of root verses, entitled Guidance Transmitted One-on-One to Those of Good Fortune. These verses are actually part of a much larger cycle of treasure texts revealed by Düdjom Rinpoché on the wrathful manifestation of Padmasambhava known as Dorjé Drolö. Düdjom Rinpoché's autocommentary on these pith instructions, entitled The Illumination of Primordial Wisdom, forms the core of this volume. I have provided my own commentary on his root texts with the intention to help illuminate this path of the Great Perfection and inspire you to devote yourself to this greatest of all journeys. My own understanding, which I will share with you here, has been informed and inspired by the core teachings and guidance I've received from my lamas, who have led me toward this path of irreversible transformation - namely, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Gyatrul Rinpoché, Yangthang Rinpoché, Drupön Lama Karma, and many others"--
Book Synopsis Behavior and Its Causes by : T.L. Smith
Download or read book Behavior and Its Causes written by T.L. Smith and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This series will include monographs and collections of studies devoted to the investigation and exploration of knowledge, information, and data-processing systems of all kinds, no matter whether human, (other) animal, or machine. Its scope is intended to span the full range of interests from classical problems in the philosophy of mind and philosophical psychology through issues in cognitive psychology and sociobiology (concerning the mental capabilities of other species) to ideas related to artificial intelligence and computer science. While primary emphasis will be placed upon theoretical, conceptual, and epistemological aspects of these problems and domains, empirical, experimental, and methodological studies will also appear from time to time. While most philosophers and psychologists tend to believe that the rise of cognitive psychology has occurred concomitant with the decline of operant psychology, Terry L. Smith contends that nothing could be further from the truth. He maintains that operant psychology has discovered (and continues to discover) reasonably well-confirmed causal principles of intentional behavior, which go beyond what cognitive psychology can provide, while cognitive psychology, in tum, has the potential to supply analyses (and explanations) that account for them. Smith thus advances a surprising but nonetheless illuminating perspective for appreciating the place of operant conditioning within the discipline of psychology in this rich and fascinating work. J. Download or read book The Human Person written by David Braine and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-07-09 with total page 583 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A philosophical work that addresses the validity of the question: What is it for the human being to be an animal, and for this animal to be a spirit? Braine argues that the perspectives of materialism and dualism are different casts of the same flawed mold and offers a holistic alternative. Braine further argues that perception is inseparable from behavior and that the human propensity to produce language separates us from other animals. Culminating in a discussion of the meaning of death, this is rich and passionate philosophical argument for the human being as animal and soul.
