Book Synopsis Intersections without Traffic Signals II by : Werner Brilon
Download or read book Intersections without Traffic Signals II written by Werner Brilon and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In March 1988, an international workshop on intersections without traffic signals was held at the Ruhr-University in Bochum, Germany. The proceedings of this workshop were published by Springer 1). The workshop was performed in a very harmonious atmosphere, which stimulated the experts from different countries to communicate and exchange their ideas and experiences. The presentations and the written contributions documented the present state of technical solutions for design and engineering of unsi gnalized intersections both regarding scientific research and practical applications. Moreover, numerous unsolved problems were identified. Thus, the 1988 workshop stimulated new developments in the field of unsignalized inter sections in several countries. In the meantime, these investigations have lead to a remarkable progress. For example in Germany a new guideline for unsignalized cross intersections and T-junctions has been finished and is going to be introduced in 1991. New results on roundabout capacity have been worked out as well. Many particularly important developments were made in foreign countries. Especially in the United States, an increasing interest in this subject can be observed. In the annual meetings of the TRB, this item received great attention. Many research institutes in North America have concentrated their activities on that point. A new TRB-circular concerning unsignalized intersections is going to be published. It will contain a new procedure for four-way-stop-control intersections, which seems to be a special feature of North American traffic engineering. However, new results from the US for two-way-stop control intersections are available as well.

Book Synopsis Urban Transport XIV by : C. A. Brebbia
Download or read book Urban Transport XIV written by C. A. Brebbia and published by WIT Press. This book was released on 2008 with total page 785 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transportation in cities, with its related environmental and social concerns continues to be a topic of the utmost priority for urban authorities and central governments around the world. Frequently, the concern is not orderly but driven by the safety crises, which take place regularly, and even the best-planned urban transport systems require considerable studies to safeguard their safety, maintenance and operational use. On a broader front, the continuing need for better urban transport systems in general and the need for a healthier environment has led to an increased level of research around the world. This is reflected in the proceedings of the Thirteenth International Conference on Urban Transport and the Environment in the 21st Century, which stresses the continuous steady growth and research into the urban transport systems control aspects, information and imulation systems. All these topics continue to be of importance for analyzing the complex inter-relation of the urban transport environment and for establishing action strategies for transport and traffic problems. Of interest to engineers, scientists and managers working in industry, universities, research organizations and government involved in the planning and management of urban transportation systems and transport policy, this book contains papers within the following subject areas: Environmental and ecological considerations; Information systems and GPS applications; Intelligent transport systems; Intermodel passenger transport systems; Land use and transport integration; Modality in freight; Public transport systems; Road pricing; Traffic management; Transport automation; Transport logistics and operations research; Transport modelling and simulation; Transport security and safety; Transport sustainability; Transport technology; Urban transport planning.

Book Synopsis Theoretical and Conceptual Frameworks in ICT Research by : Kandiero, Agripah
Download or read book Theoretical and Conceptual Frameworks in ICT Research written by Kandiero, Agripah and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2023-12-29 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research that is based on appropriate theoretical or conceptual frameworks ensures valid and credible research objectives and the production of relevant results that complement existing literature on a research problem. Innovative and relevant knowledge is produced using appropriate theories and concepts. Despite the importance of theoretical and conceptual frameworks to research, many researchers have difficulties applying them appropriately in their research. Researchers in information systems have limited exposure to theories of societal and human development that should guide them in applying their knowledge of information systems to address real-world problems. Theoretical and Conceptual Frameworks in ICT Research presents a collection of practical case applications of theoretical and conceptual frameworks in information systems research. It guides researchers of information systems to explore and use appropriate theoretical frameworks. This book further tests different theories and frameworks and recommends their effectiveness and improvement and identifies context-specific theoretical and conceptual frameworks. Covering topics such as decision electronic health record implementation, institution management, and technology adoption, this premier reference source is an essential resource for policymakers, educators and advanced-level students of higher education, information systems professionals, librarians, researchers, and academicians.
