Book Synopsis Infrared Methods for Gaseous Measurements by : Wormhoudt
Download or read book Infrared Methods for Gaseous Measurements written by Wormhoudt and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1985-06-25 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This interdisciplinary volume is an excellent resource for anyone who wants an in-depth understanding of current and emerging trends in gaseous measurement techniques. It provides both qualitative and quantitative introductions to the physics involved in using remote observations to collect data, and offers numerous examples that encourage new applications of existing technologies. Compiled by an authority on spectroscopy, chemical kinetics and infrared emissions from combustible sources, this volume compares burnoff flare and stack plume emission spectra with parametric calculations performed with equally high spectral resolution ... discusses sensitivity of spectra to source temperature, and behavior of emission and absorption linewidths with temperature ... reviews the emission-absorption techniques for determining temperature and species concentration profiles ... and much more. Infrared Methods for Gaseous Measurements is a vital research tool for photo-optical instrumentation engineers; electro-optical engineers; chemical, aerospace, automotive, combustion, environmental, and mechanical engineers; and technologists involved in radiation, infrared or laser research. The book also serves as an excellent resource for graduate molecular spectroscopy courses and postgraduate infrared technology seminars. Book jacket.

Download or read book Gas Measurement Technology in Theory and Practice written by Gerhard Wiegleb and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-18 with total page 1307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book describes the physical properties of gases and describes the different measuring methods and sensor principles for the analysis of gas mixtures. The use of gas sensors in different applications is shown by means of practical examples. These applications of the metrological detection of gases originate from many fields of engineering, in particular energy technology, food technology, process engineering, biotechnology, safety engineering, medical technology and environmental technology. This book is a translation of the original German 1st edition Gasmesstechnik in Theorie und Praxis by Gerhard Wiegleb, published by Springer Fachmedien Wiesbaden GmbH, part of Springer Nature in 2017. The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence (machine translation by the service DeepL.com). A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically differently from a conventional translation. Springer Nature works continuously to further the development of tools for the production of books and on the related technologies to support the authors.

This book was released on 2006-02-23 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asaresultofvarioushumanactivities, suchasincreaseinhumanpopulation, decrease in arable land due to soil degradation, urbanization, industrialization and associated increase in the demand for livestock products, dramatic changes are occurring in the global ruminant livestock sector. These changes includeshift inthesize of regional livestock populations and in the types of management and feeding systems under which ruminant livestock are held, and increased demand of a wider range of quality attributes from animal agriculture, not just of the products themselves but also of the methods used in their production. The livestock sector will need to respond to newchallengesofincreasinglivestockproductivitywhileprotectingenvironmentand human health and conservingbiodiversity and natural resources. The micro-organisms in the digestive tracts of ruminant livestock have a profound in?uence on the conversion offeedinto end products, which can impact on the- imal and theenvironment. As the livestock sector grows particularly in developing countries, there will be an increasing need to understand these processes for b- ter management and use ofbothfeed and other natural resources that underpinthe development of sustainable feeding systems.

The symposium continued the trans disciplinary character and comprehensive approach of the preceding five symposia. Gaseous Dielectrics VI is a detailed record of the symposium proceedings. It covers recent advances and developments in a wide range of basic, applied and industrial areas of gaseous dielectrics. It is hoped that Gaseous Dielectrics VI will aid future research and development in and encourage wider industrial use of gaseous dielectrics. The Organizing Committee of the Sixth International Symposium on Gaseous Dielectrics consisted of L. G. Christophorou (U.S.A.), F. Y. Chu (Canada), A. H. Cookson (U.S.A.), D. L. Damsky (U.S.A.), O. Farish (U.K.), I. Gallimberti (Italy), A. Garscadden (U.S.A.), E. Marode (France), T. Nitta (Japan), W. Pfeiffer (Germany), I. Sauers (U.S.A.), R. J. Van Brunt (U.S.A.), and W. Zaengl (Switzerland). The local arrangements committee consisted of members of the Health and Safety Research Division and personnel of the Conference Office of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and staff of the University of Tennessee (UTK). The contributions of each member of these committees, the work of the Session Chairmen, the interest of the participants, and the advice of innumerable colleagues are gratefully acknowledged.
Book Synopsis Development of High-temperature Strain Gages by : J. W. Pitts
Download or read book Development of High-temperature Strain Gages written by J. W. Pitts and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A summary is presented of a research program aimed at the improvement of high-temperature strain gages of the electrical resistance type. Potential ceramic and metal components were evaluated and a gage was devised that was based on these evaluations. This gage (NBS 5B) was flexible and easy to install; however, it lacked resistance stability at higher temperatures. In an attempt to minimize this deficiency, ceramic cements were developed that showed greater electrical resistivity than had been previously observed in the range 800 to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit; also, a technique was devised for increasing the resistance to ground by applying a fired-on ceramic coating to the grid of a specifically developed unbacked gage. A study was made of the cause of the erratic response of cemented gages that had not been preheated prior to use. There were strong indications that the erratic response was caused mostly by the rapid decrease in resistance that accompanied structural changes in the cement.
