Book Synopsis Global Strategic Trade Management by : Rajiv Nayan
Download or read book Global Strategic Trade Management written by Rajiv Nayan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-02-26 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines whether India is successfully integrating and adapting to the global strategic management system. It offers essential insights into the evolution of export controls for goods, which may have implications for the development of Weapons of Mass Destruction – an aspect that is especially relevant given India’s robust biotechnological, chemical and nuclear industrial base. In security studies, the phrase “strategic trade management” is now slowly replacing the phrase “export control”. However, for the policymaking community, export control remains popular, at least for the sake of reference. The book also describes the mechanisms India is adopting in this regard. It demonstrates the shift in the Indian approach to strategic trade management, from an outspoken critic to a supporter. Politically, the country was initially skeptical of the idea of export controls because it was a target of such systems. The book also explains the tools, forces and incentives that moved India to adapt its policy on export controls or strategic trade management.

Download or read book The Logic of Securities Law written by Nicholas L. Georgakopoulos and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2017-05-04 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book opens with a simple introduction to financial markets, attempting to understand the action and the players of Wall Street by comparing them to the action and the players of main street. Firstly, it explores the definition of a security by its function, the departure from the buyer beware environment of corporate law and the entrance into the seller disclose environment of securities law. Secondly, it shows that the cost of disclosure rules is justified by their capacity to combat irrationalities, fads, and panics. The third section explains how the structure of class actions is designed to improve deterrence. Next it explores the economic harm from insider trading and how the law fights it. In sum, the book shows how all these parts of securities law serve the virtuous cycle from liquidity to accurate prices and more trading and how the great recession showed that our securities regulation reacted mostly adequately to the crisis.
Book Synopsis Product Development and the Timing of Information Disclosure Under U.S. and Japanese Patent Systems by : Reiko Aoki
Download or read book Product Development and the Timing of Information Disclosure Under U.S. and Japanese Patent Systems written by Reiko Aoki and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper examines the consequences of the differences in the timing of information disclosure between the U.S. and Japanese patent systems. Under the Japanese system it is possible for a firm to apply for a patent knowing the exact specifications of a rival's patent application. In contrast, in the U.S. the only way a firm learns about a rival's innovation is upon the actual granting of the rival's patent. We argue that this difference enables Japanese firms to coordinate their R&D efforts better than their U.S. counterparts and that this, in turn, leads to smaller quality improvements under the Japanese system. We show that the creation/diffusion tradeoff of patents can be influenced not only by the scope and length of patent protection but also by other features of the patenting process.
