Digitalization will affect every part of daily life. Industry 4.0 promises to unite the worlds of production and network connectivity to a Smart Factory. Machines are becoming more intelligent and communicate with each other autonomously. Caused by constantly available, decentralized processed, real-time data the product communicates with the machinery to tell it exactly what to do.This study deals with the essential characteristics of the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) and if they can be transferred to thermoprocessing equipment. Furthermore it analyses the necessary adjustments to integrate thermoprocessing equipment in a Factory of the Future.
