Book Synopsis Growth in Economic Relations of China and India with the GCC Countries by : Nader Habibi
Download or read book Growth in Economic Relations of China and India with the GCC Countries written by Nader Habibi and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The oil-rich Arab countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have rapidly expanded their economic relations with Asian countries recently, particularly China and India. The main reason behind this development is that the regions complement each other in several dimensions. China and India are the fastest-growing, oil-consuming nations in the world, while GCC countries have the largest proven deposits of oil and gas. The GCC is interested in China and India as reliable oil customers over the long-run and the latter look at the GCC as reliable suppliers of oil and gas. The two regions are also attracted to each other because both are enjoying strong economic growth and offer many investment opportunities to the other. It is expected that GCC economic relations with China and India will grow stronger in the coming decades and serve as a good example of South-South economic cooperation for other developing countries.

Book Synopsis Strengthening China's and India's Trade and Investment Ties to the Middle East and North Africa by :
Download or read book Strengthening China's and India's Trade and Investment Ties to the Middle East and North Africa written by and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2009 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: China and India's spectacular economic rise over the last two decades has accelerated their trade and investment flows with the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), particularly with the oil-producing countries. And while these flows are still small, China and India's presence in the region is on the rise. This report focuses on the following questions: what have been evolution and the impact of MENA's trade and investment relations with China and India? what actions can be taken to maximize the benefits from these relations and to enhance MENA's international integration? The main findings indicate that the region as a whole has benefited from the rise of China and India in terms of better terms of trade, significant increases in oil and gas exports, and cheaper imports. However, producers of industrial goods have been negatively-and in a few cases severely-affected by competition with the two Asian countries in both third and domestic markets. While China and India are investing more in MENA, they are contributing very little to job creation or to the transfer and diffusion of technology. Faster growth in the two Asian countries-and the associated higher demand for energy-will increase revenues from oil and the difficult choices associated with their management. For the labor-abundant, non oil-producing countries, competition with China and India will increase. But the lack of competitive manufacturing industries and services, the insufficient attention given in the past to building technological capabilities and promoting openness and entrepreneurship are constraining their ability to respond to competition. They need to accelerate productivity to tackle unemployment, especially among youth. This may require the broader institutional changes seen in China and India-suggesting the importance of a pragmatic reform agenda that can accelerate productivity, trade, and investment in the region.

Book Synopsis China-India-Asean-Gulf Region by : Ioannis Vasileiou
Download or read book China-India-Asean-Gulf Region written by Ioannis Vasileiou and published by . This book was released on 2019-08-20 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: China, India, ASEAN and the Gulf region are four of the foremost European Union trade partners. It goes without saying that these countries and regions incontrovertibly represent four completely different views of Asia as regards not only politics and economics, but also history, culture and civilization. The reason for choosing these case studies is the author's will to scrupulously underline that despite the several economic and sociopolitical differences that incontestably exist between them, the Union eventually manages to maintain satisfactory and highly beneficial trade relations with all of them without a single exception. The European Union's dominant objective with regard to its trade policies is for the latter to be beneficial for all sides. And it worth mentioning that the profits of an efficacious international trade policy indubitably provide all trade partners with the coveted opportunity not only to tackle burning issues such as unemployment and climate change, but also to methodically promote education, security, research, development and social stability.
