Book Synopsis Inadmissibility of Various "good" Statistical Procedures which are Translation Invariant by : Shian-Koong Perng
Download or read book Inadmissibility of Various "good" Statistical Procedures which are Translation Invariant written by Shian-Koong Perng and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this thesis is to try to show that certain moment conditions are essential for the admissibility of various 'good' translation invariant statistical procedures. Section 3 indicates the inadmissibility of a unique best translation invariant estimate if a certain moment condition fails to be satisfied. Section 4 and 5 shows, by example, the inadmissibility of a best translation invariant test if either the test is non-unique or certain moment conditions fail to hold. Section 6 shows, by example, that a certain translation invariant confidence interval is inadmissible if a certain moment condition fails to hold.

Book Synopsis Parametric Statistical Inference by : Shelemyahu Zacks
Download or read book Parametric Statistical Inference written by Shelemyahu Zacks and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-20 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Parametric Statistical Inference: Basic Theory and Modern Approaches presents the developments and modern trends in statistical inference to students who do not have advanced mathematical and statistical preparation. The topics discussed in the book are basic and common to many fields of statistical inference and thus serve as a jumping board for in-depth study. The book is organized into eight chapters. Chapter 1 provides an overview of how the theory of statistical inference is presented in subsequent chapters. Chapter 2 briefly discusses statistical distributions and their properties. Chapter 3 is devoted to the problem of sufficient statistics and the information in samples, and Chapter 4 presents some basic results from the theory of testing statistical hypothesis. In Chapter 5, the classical theory of estimation is developed. Chapter 6 discusses the efficiency of estimators and some large sample properties, while Chapter 7 studies the topics on confidence intervals. Finally, Chapter 8 is about decision theoretic and Bayesian approach in testing and estimation. Senior undergraduate and graduate students in statistics and mathematics, and those who have taken an introductory course in probability will highly benefit from this book.
Book Synopsis Theory of Point Estimation by : Erich L. Lehmann
Download or read book Theory of Point Estimation written by Erich L. Lehmann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-05-02 with total page 610 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second, much enlarged edition by Lehmann and Casella of Lehmann's classic text on point estimation maintains the outlook and general style of the first edition. All of the topics are updated, while an entirely new chapter on Bayesian and hierarchical Bayesian approaches is provided, and there is much new material on simultaneous estimation. Each chapter concludes with a Notes section which contains suggestions for further study. This is a companion volume to the second edition of Lehmann's "Testing Statistical Hypotheses".

Book Synopsis Selected Works of E. L. Lehmann by : Javier Rojo
Download or read book Selected Works of E. L. Lehmann written by Javier Rojo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-01-14 with total page 1104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These volumes present a selection of Erich L. Lehmann’s monumental contributions to Statistics. These works are multifaceted. His early work included fundamental contributions to hypothesis testing, theory of point estimation, and more generally to decision theory. His work in Nonparametric Statistics was groundbreaking. His fundamental contributions in this area include results that came to assuage the anxiety of statisticians that were skeptical of nonparametric methodologies, and his work on concepts of dependence has created a large literature. The two volumes are divided into chapters of related works. Invited contributors have critiqued the papers in each chapter, and the reprinted group of papers follows each commentary. A complete bibliography that contains links to recorded talks by Erich Lehmann – and which are freely accessible to the public – and a list of Ph.D. students are also included. These volumes belong in every statistician’s personal collection and are a required holding for any institutional library.
