We have all heard what the smart phone and the internet are doing to people's lives from the news reports of teens staying up all night on their smartphones, to men and women of all ages addicted to pornography, and people who are burning out on social media. This problem we face has never been seen throughout the history of man. The fruits from a constant diet of images are beginning to be made manifest. People are beginning to struggle because their smartphone is their only companion. Many have left reality, for the imaginative world and do not know how to get out of it. Others are so led by the imagination that their emotions and reason are slowly dying.

The bees have long disappeared; instead children must labour on farms, pollinating crops by hand so that the nation can eat. The farm Shifa and Themba are sent to is hard and cruel. Themba won't survive there and Shifa comes up with a plan to break them out. But they have no idea where they are - their only guide is a map drawn from the ramblings of a stranger. The journey ahead is fraught with danger, but Shifa is strong and knows to listen to her instincts - to let love guide them home. The freedom of a nation depends on it . . . Endorsed by Amnesty International.

Download or read book Distinctly You written by Cheryl Martin and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2016-02-23 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For Women Who Want More Than Comparing, Competing, and Coveting All of creation is content to be what it was made to be except us. Fish flourish in water. Ants are not worried about their size. But we waste time on the three C's--comparing, competing, coveting. We aim at the bull's-eye on someone else's board, pursuing a race we weren't equipped to run. Cheryl Martin shows women how to develop their God-given uniqueness rather than becoming fixated on what they are not or do not have. Distinctly You unveils the actions and attitudes that may be sabotaging women and explores ways women can engage and build up their unique talents, interests, and strengths. Readers will be inspired by examples in the Old and New Testaments of people who were exceptional for God's kingdom. As the author shares her ongoing quest to be distinct for his glory, readers see how God created them to thrive. Includes end-of-chapter questions for individual or group use.
Book Synopsis The Idea of Form by : Rodolphe Gasché
Download or read book The Idea of Form written by Rodolphe Gasché and published by Stanford University Press. This book was released on 2003 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Against the assumption that aesthetic form relates to a harmonious arrangement of parts into a beautiful whole, this book argues that reason is the real theme of the "Critique of Judgment" as of the two earlier "Critiques." Since aesthetic judgment of the beautiful becomes possible only when the mind is confronted with things of nature, for which no determined concepts of understanding are available, aesthetic judgment is involved in an epistemological or, rather, para-epistemological task. The predicate "beautiful" indicates that something has minimal form and is cognizable. This book explores this concept of form, in particular the role of presentation ("Darstellung") in what Kant refers to as "mere form," which involves not only the understanding, but also reason as the faculty of ideas. Such a notion of form reveals why the beautiful can be related to the morally good. On the basis of this reinterpreted concept of form, most major concepts and themes of the "Critique of Judgment"--such as disinterestedness, free play, the sublime, genius, and beautiful arts--are examined by the author and shown in a new light.
