This book was released on 2014-07-08 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Revolving Doors" is an adult, autobiographical novel in which 'Richard', now over sixty, recalls incidents of his nightmarish first five years of childhood, while fostered through 17 residences as a ward of Toronto's "S.W.York Co. Children's Aid Society." From his perspective and understanding as a small child, he shares details of memories of unspeakably perverse mistreatment, including perpetual abuse, torture and even rape. After years of counselling and treatment for ensuing, debilitating mental illnesses, 'Richard' experienced a "black-out," resulting in the sudden awareness of long-buried, traumatic memories. The Author, Ms. Ketteringham, graphically details her brother's incredible victimization/survival story by interweaving his recollections, and relentless nightmares, with documentation from the organizations involved. It is "Richard's" most sincere desire that his story of ultimate survival might encourage similar abuse victims who may be searching for hope in facing and fighting their own demons.

Book Synopsis Talk to Me Like I'm Someone You Love by : Nancy Dreyfus, Psy.D.
Download or read book Talk to Me Like I'm Someone You Love written by Nancy Dreyfus, Psy.D. and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2009-12-24 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The most crucial relationship advice book since Men Are from Mars.”—Erin Meanley, Glamour.com A groundbreaking, interactive relationship tool that literally places in the hands of couples the power to transform chronically frustrating relationship dynamics. We've all been there. A conversation with a loved one escalates into conflict. Voices rise to a fever pitch and angry, accusative words fly through the air. At times like these, it seems impossible to find the magic words that will lead to healing. Enter Talk to Me Like I'm Someone You Love. A psychotherapist with decades of experience in counseling couples, Nancy Dreyfus hit upon the revolutionary practice outlined in this book during a couples-therapy session in which a wife’s unrelenting criticism of her husband was causing him to become emotionally withdrawn. In the midst of this, Dreyfus found herself scribbling on a scrap of paper, “Talk to me like I'm someone you love,” and gestured to the husband that he should hold it up. He did and within seconds the familiar power differential between the two shifted, and a gentler, more genuine connection emerged. Dreyfus was startled, then intrigued, and then motivated to create a tool that could help others. This book features more than one hundred of Dreyfus's "flash cards for real life," written statements that express what we wish we could communicate to the person we love, but either can't find the right words or the right tone in which to say it. The statements include: • Taking responsibility: "I realize I'm overreacting. Can you give me a minute to get sane again?" • Apologizing: "I know I've really hurt you. What can I do to help you trust me again?" • Loving: "You are precious, and I get that I haven't been treating you like you are." A one-of-a-kind, practical relationship tool, Talk to Me Like I'm Someone You Love will help couples to stop arguing and begin healing.

But when you’re a thirty-four-year-old bachelor — and you are secretly attracted to other men — deception at home and at work simmers daily and threatens to boil over. After two guests are found dead in the tony railway hotel in Halifax where Marc works, his job is compromised, and his personal life is vulnerable to exposure. Praise for Uncommon Sons ~ “…an exploration of identity and prejudice, of the tension between old ways and new. … Mr. Bishop handles these difficult issues deftly and with sensitivity, as his main characters Marc and Eva seek to find their own way through the discrimination that surrounds them in their quest for a more tolerant world.” – Riana Everly, author of The Assistant and Through a Different Lens ~ “An intriguing mystery, great characters, and a lesser known facet of Canadian history combine to make Uncommon Sons a compelling read!” – Linda Bennett Pennell, author of Miami Days Havana Nights
Book Synopsis Readjusting My Crown by : Nicole Harris
Download or read book Readjusting My Crown written by Nicole Harris and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2018-06-13 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Readjusting My Crown is a compilation of how I used social media and journaling to find my purpose. In this thing called life, we are not giving clear-cut directions on how to live life abundantly and successfully. To the world, I may seem like I have everything together and under control. Heck, others have labeled me as strong. These adjectives are the furthest thing from being the truth. As part of my transparency, I wanted to share with the world how I found my purpose. This is only the beginning. In 2016, I started posting Docs Corner on Facebook, and prior to that, I would do an annual reflection on New Years Eve. Docs Corner was developed as a way for me to cope with everyday stressors. I use Docs Corner to verbalize my frustrations, as well as look at the situation as a lesson learned. Docs Corner is my platform to vent, to stand on my soapbox, and to discuss how I feel with a little inspiration. I did not realize that many of my friends on Facebook enjoyed reading my post. After positive feedback, I decided to make it a book to reach more people in hopes of inspiring them. This is part of my journey as Dr. Harris. On this journey, I had to readjust my crown more than once. I pray that this book helps you to look at life differently.

As a consequence of his understanding of life issues Abundance Creed connects past history with the present-day struggle of African-Americans. Smith has the exceptional gift of crafting divinely inspired, creative poetry that is both sagacious, perceptive and readable. Julius Smith's sensitivity to the critical, fundamental, timeless issues of the human experience, his depth of insight and analysis is not only remarkable, but it is phenomenal. His reflections are inspirational and useful for those seeking to delve into the subjects of abundance, the current God ordained role of the family, and the painful history (past and current effect) of slavery in America. Smith is a perceptive and serious interpreter of life, as a result Abundance Creed breathes a sense of true compassion, discernment and spirituality which are the inner qualities of Smith himself." Reverend Dr. Almetha Thomas, ordained minister, Licensed Clinical Therapist by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (retired) "As we walk through life we are gifted with an Abundance of memories. The good ones are like a path of light, the bad ones are shaded by the Reflection of darkness. The images we see in the mirror are Family who develop our wings and allow us to fly. Time represents the pace of our journey, to allow one to experience the quintessential steps of life. The Abundance Creed is well worth the read, and holding on to as a life reference." Quincy Smith, Hollywood Actor "In the Abundance Creed Reverend Smith's in-depth knowledge of the human spirit, his grasp of compassion, justice, and freedom surfaces throughout his poetry. His focus on the American experience points to democracy. I am amazed at his ability to capture feelings, fears, hopes and dreams by connecting words, phrases and sentences. He is innovative, has an extroverted style and quite frankly, the material is inspirational and a joy to read. Right on Brother!" Reverend Richard D. Winn, Sr., Superintendent, The Griffin District, North Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church
