Gina's sister, Jannel Rap, poured her energy into the search, but as of this writing, Gina has not been found. The pain of losing Gina, followed by an intense desire to find her, eventually brought Jannel to a new place in her life, one where she learned to redirect her anguish into action. After putting her music career on hold, Rap began to witness firsthand how she could funnel her grief and pain into positive energy through her music and start to heal. 30 Days in a Life shares Rap's inspiring journey of how she refused to allow the tragedy of her sister's disappearance rob her of hope. Join Rap as she candidly explores her vulnerability, and finds empowerment through rising against the pain and becoming a warrior for personal peace and tranquility. "A remarkable window into the life of an amazing woman. It is a joy to read a book that is so honest and so personal, to delve into the depths of a woman's developing spirituality and come up grasping a piece of one's own soul. This book is pure genius and a must read for all searching for God in a world that would keep you from knowing Him. Jannel Rap searches for her sister and in the end finds much much more." -Rev. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hounded by God, the author writes about his struggle to integrate his homosexuality with his personality and his Catholic-Christian spirituality. Born in 1948, he grew up in the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s when homosexuality was considered either a mental illness or a major sin. In 1968, he had his first homosexual experience. Feeling shame and trying to repress his feelings, he spent over six years in therapy. Raised a strict Roman Catholic, Joseph confessed his many “sins” to a priest and attended Mass daily. He felt hopeless in accepting his homosexuality and living happily as a gay man, repeating nightly, “If it gets too bad, I can always kill myself.” By 1974, he knew that therapy was not changing his sexual orientation and felt desperate. Joseph experienced God as hounding him to accept his gay identity and to believe that God loves him as he is. His autobiographical journal reveals his gradual awakening to live his vocation, not only as a gay man in relationship with his partner and with God, but also as someone willing to share his journey with those who struggle with their homosexuality and their faith.

Book excerpt: Presenting the true story of an orphan, Dolly, renamed Maureen, adopted by a childless couple. Maureen experienced unexpected transition. Grandpa, wise, elderly Czechoslovakian, became her solace. Adult Maureen became wife, mother, and herself a social worker in adoptions. Woven into the fabric of this book, like the colored strands in a tartan, are other threads than adoption: Varying styles of parenting, Maureen's religious journey including Methodist Sunday School from the foster home, Christian Science thought from the adoptive home, and as a young adult, true Christian conversion at a Billy Graham Crusade. Exciting research produced a reunion with Maureen's limited birth-mother whose life had disappointed her original family. Yet, this reunion became of inestimable value to Maureen and those who loved her. They found that within the circle of family love, there is always room to love just one more-even a child that never grew up. BJ first knew life as an orphan in a foster home; then adopted by a childless couple. Without preparation, BJ was taken to their new home, where she received loving nurture, elocution lessons which led to roles in radio and Pasadena Playhouse. Her University training was in radio writing and production. She married her WWII Sweetheart, a born-again Christian with a career in radio/TV. Studying the Gospel led BJ to salvation at a Billy Graham Crusade. After serious Bible study BJ qualified as a licensed minister in her holiness denomination. A Sabbatical year in Ecuador, found BJ writing and producing Christian International radio programs for HCJB. Touched by human need she found BJ returned to the University to become a social worker serving until retired in inter-country adoptions. An unexpected release of non-identifying information resulted in a bittersweet reunion with her birthmother, just in time.

Book excerpt: Among the assorted snobs and eager sycophants employed at London's fifth-largest auction house—an enterprise as unimpressive as it sounds—Alice Duclos and Andrew Heathley stand out as bright and brainy. Alice has a head for science, but her cautious temperament—and controlling mother—keep her toiling at a job she doesn't love. And sweet-natured, adoring Andrew secretly thanks his lucky stars for it. He has not given up hope that the incredible Alice will one day realize that his vibrant charms and witty repartee are all for her. When a business trip takes them away together, Andrew sees his chance to finally capture Alice's attention. But much to his chagrin, the only person Alice seems to notice is Edward Lynden, the handsome, reclusive country gentleman who owns the rare and valuable book they have come to appraise. As Alice struggles to open up her heart for the first time, both Edward and Andrew fight to win her affection. But love doesn't always go to the highest bidder.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A celebration of a life, a story of a death, but most importantly an exploration of grief and loss relevant to all those in a position to make that experience more bearable. This book is essential reading for anyone working or preparing to work with young adults and others facing terminal illness, and their families. It is written by a bereaved mother of a 25 year-old son treated unsuccessfully for cancer. Heartbreakingly honest, Nina draws on relevant theory, research and narrative texts as well as personal reflections. She considers what might have made the hideous journey through treatment, dying and bereavement easier to bear. This is a moving and memorable story for all of us, but there are also learning points throughout for medics and medical policy makers specifically and the health and social care professions more generally. Students and experienced nurses, doctors, counsellors, clerics and others will benefit from deepening their understanding in order to work more effectively with people facing the unthinkable.

At least, that’s what she tells herself after finding two dead bodies during her first year back in Stonebridge, Pennsylvania. Murders make customers wary and Angel’s sales are suffering. With her daughters back in college and the cases behind her, Angel focuses on attracting more customers into her novelty shop. Hoping to boost local tourism, Angel researches how to create a walking history tour. During a dry run for her inaugural walk, her brother’s Pomeranian leads her through the woods and to her third body, the apparent victim of multiple stings from a nearby wasp nest. Angel recognizes the deceased as her sister’s cherished employee who was days away from being married. The scene doesn’t sit right with Angel’s best friend, Detective Trinity Colson, however, who suspects foul play. When the autopsy reveals a different cause of death, Angel dives into her most dangerous case yet. Soon Angel, along with her eclectic crew featuring two dogs and a feisty parrot, are once again on the hunt for a murderer. But is Angel also being hunted?
