Giorgio Vecchi has been Associate Professor of Spanish Language at the University of Pavia for over thirty-five years. His poems have won prizes in local and national competitions. He is a native of Piacenza by birth and education and has lived in Oltrepò Pavese for many years. In 2021 he published 'Albergo Roma e dintorni', a volume of short stories about Piacenza in the 1950s. A volume of his poems entitled 'I palpiti del tempo' has recently been published. The poems in this collection speak above all of love, of the difficult relationship with the other person, a real or, often, invented companion with whom dialogue is ultimately impossible. The poet seems more interested in the form/music of the verse than in the content, in a direct approach to the reader, who should perceive the text as a virtuous game intending to create a kind of communication with the author.

Navi inglesi raccolgono il Marchese d'Halifax e Mary, che raggiungono così New-York, dove il fratellastro di Mac-Lellan è deciso ad organizzare il suo matrimonio con la fanciulla. L'astuto Testa di Pietra vigila e così il duello decisivo tra Mac-Lellan e il Marchese si svolge nientemeno che nella cappella sotterranea di una chiesa, interrompendo la cerimonia. Il libro si chiude con un affrettata conclusione in cui si accenna alle nozze tra il baronetto e la bella Mary, nello stesso giorno in cui il generale Washington vinse le armate inglesi comandate dal capitano Cadwallari sulla Delavara.

It debunks the myth that there was a unified postwar fascist movement in Italy, but instead excavates the complex battles within the extreme right as well as with their opponents from the left, and the authorities. This study is necessary to clarify the history and ideological dynamics of a political area still too often shrouded in mystery and whose geopolitical role is still poorly understood and generally underestimated. The analysis is contextualized in the present day by looking at the different perspectives of the Italian far right on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. As Agamben suggests, the camp embodies the state of exception. A dehumanising camp life will therefore emerge every time such a structure is created. Translation of the diary by Aisling Reid (Italian-English). In 1943, Aldo Quarisa worked at a military school in Florence, where he taught literature. In October of that year, one month after Italy had surrendered to the Allied forces, the Italians declared war on the Germans. In Florence, the German occupiers responded quickly, by arresting and deporting people with military connections to numerous concentration camps in Austria. Quite suddenly, Aldo was detained and deported through a network of camps, including Benjaminovo and the Stalag X-B internment camp, near the Austrian village of Sandbostel. For two years, he found himself imprisoned alongside other Italians, including the celebrated journalist Giovannino Guareschi, who secretly kept a diary that was later published as his Diario Clandestino 1943–1945 in 1946. Much like Guareschi, Aldo also kept a diary and excerpts are published here in both Italian and English for the first time. The diary describes in unprecedented detail the monotony of camp life, the cruelty of the guards and the prisoners’ struggle to survive.
