Book excerpt: Non è frequente, almeno nella diocesi di Roma, che un prete si trovi a prestare servizio in una parrocchia urbana durante l’arco intero di quarantatre anni, come è accaduto all’autore di queste note tra il 1969 e il 2011: dapprima da vicario, poi da parroco nella parrocchia di San Fulgenzio. Negli anni del post-concilio forte e sentita era l’istanza alla partecipazione da parte dei laici di fronte all’esigenza di innovare lo stile dei rapporti all’interno della Chiesa e della Chiesa stessa col mondo ad essa esterno. A San Fulgenzio poi, la comunità era in quel momento singolarmente sensibile e reattiva e, a cominciare dal suo primo parroco, aveva saputo definire una linea pastorale coerente con le prospettive che il dibattito conciliare aveva posto in luce e codificato soprattutto nelle costituzioni “Dei Verbum” sulla Sacra Rivelazione, “Sacrosanctum Concilium” sulla liturgia, “Lumen gentium” sulla Chiesa e la sua missione, “Gaudium et spes” sulla Chiesa e il mondo contemporaneo. Nell’attenzione ai tempi e alle circostanze concrete con cui l’azione pastorale doveva fare i conti, era nata non solo una serie di iniziative più o meno efficaci, ma uno stile a cui la comunità intera ha continuato ad attenersi negli anni, facilitata dal fatto che al primo parroco don Ivan Natalini, era subentrato il suo viceparroco don Giorgio Alessandrini, presente e attivo con lui quasi subito, da appena un anno dopo l’inaugurazione della parrocchia avvenuta l’otto febbraio del 1968. Il successore, autore di queste note, fortemente convinto e motivato a restare nel solco tracciato, ha voluto rendere di pubblica ragione un’esperienza dai molteplici risvolti, in cui sono intrecciati, oltre ad aspetti pastorali che interessano le dinamiche della Chiesa italiana di quegli anni, anche fatti e circostanze che hanno sfiorato questioni non secondarie della vita pubblica e civile in genere, in cui alcuni tra i parrocchiani erano personalmente impegnati.

A cinquant’anni dall’indizione del concilio la parrocchia appare ancora un soggetto debole, segnato da un deficit di riflessione teologica non compensato dalla recente attenzione pratica, dovuta alla ristrutturazione della presenza ecclesiale sul territorio. Ma questa identità debole potrebbe oggi costituire uno dei suoi punti di forza, a patto che la logica amministrativa sia abbandonata a favore dello spazio di esercizio della comunione. Concepite per coloro che si riconoscevano dentro la Chiesa, ora le parrocchie sono chiamate a ripensarsi missionariamente e a ritrovare la capacità di trasmettere la fede anche a chi si trova nelle regioni del dubbio e della lontananza.
