Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book A Fascist Decade of War written by Marco Maria Aterrano and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-05-04 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the invasion of Ethiopia in 1935 through to the waning months of the World War II in 1945, Fascist Italy was at war. This Fascist decade of war comprised an uninterrupted stretch of military and political engagements in which Italian military forces were involved in Abyssinia, Spain, Albania, France, Greece, the Soviet Union, North Africa and the Middle East. As a junior partner to Nazi Germany, only entering the war in June 1940, Italy is often seen as a relatively minor player in World War II. However, this book challenges much of the existing scholarship by arguing that Fascist Italy played a significant and distinct role in shaping international relations between 1935 and 1945, creating a Fascist decade of war.

Download or read book Transitions from Authoritarian Rule written by Guillermo O’Donnell and published by JHU Press. This book was released on 2013-07-16 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An array of internationally noted scholars examines the process of democratization in southern Europe and Latin America. They provide new interpretations of both current and historical efforts of nations to end periods of authoritarian rule and to initiate transition to democracy, efforts that have met with widely varying degrees of success and failure. Extensive case studies of individual countries, a comparative overview, and a synthesis conclusions offer important insights for political scientists, students, and all concerned with the prospects for democracy. The historical example of Italy after Mussolini as well as the more recent cases of Greece, Portugal, Spain, and Turkey suggest factors that may make a transition relatively secure.

Book Synopsis Italian Intellectuals and International Politics, 1945–1992 by : Alessandra Tarquini
Download or read book Italian Intellectuals and International Politics, 1945–1992 written by Alessandra Tarquini and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-10-01 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Italian intellectuals played an important role in the shaping of international politics during the Cold War. The visions of the world that they promulgated, their influence on public opinion and their ability to shape collective speech, whether in agreement with or in opposition to those in power, have been underestimated and understudied. This volume marks one of the first serious attempts to assess how Italian intellectuals understood and influenced Italy’s place in the post–World War II world. The protagonists represent the three key post-war political cultures: Catholic, Marxist and Liberal Democratic. Together, these essays uncover the role of such intellectuals in institutional networks, their impact on the national and transnational circulation of ideas and the relationships they established with a variety of international associations and movements.
