Il metodo "7 steps", ivi presentato, ben si applica ai progetti attivati dalle municipalità che mirano ad effettuare azioni di controllo del territorio e prevenzione del crimine, in quanto permette di verificare se le azioni poste in essere risultino efficaci nel dare una risposta al tangibile bisogno di sicurezza espresso dalla cittadinanza. L'applicazione del metodo "7 steps" consente inoltre di offrire le indicazioni necessarie per correlare l'evoluzione di una specifica casistica con le conseguenze di questa a livello sociale, ed allineare il piano degli interventi con le trasformazioni che, in itinere, si sviluppano in seguito alle azioni che si è deciso di porre in essere. Nell'ambito della trentennale esperienza maturata nel campo delle politiche per la sicurezza, ho osservato più volte come l'effetto Pigmalione, "la profezia che si auto avvera", descritto da Robert Rosenthal, abbia limitato il "chi fa cosa" all'ambito prodromico dell'intervento progettato, nell'ottica di una analisi conclusiva chiamata a valutare come: "ciò che ci si era proposti di fare" sia stato realizzato; questa analisi, necessaria per l'ambito rendicontativo, concede poco o nulla a ciò che, assurto all'evidenza, non essendo stato postulato a priori, non viene preso in considerazione. Il rischio di sottovalutare i meta risultati, crea una asimmetria tra le esigenze conclamate e le risposte a queste, minando la credibilità e la fiducia tra le parti. La necessità di stare al passo con l'evoluzione delle situazioni e comunicare gli sviluppi di queste, rappresenta la nuova frontiera della politica e delle Forze dell'Ordine che, oltre ad operare con approccio riflessivo ed esperienziale, sono chiamate a collaborare con una società i cui componenti sono pronti a mettere a disposizione le competenze di cui dispongono, aderendo a "progetti partecipati" forieri di un fruttuoso sodalizio basato sul rapporto sinergico tra tutti i soggetti interessati alla prevenzione del crimine ed al disagio sociale in generale.
