This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 495 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book constitutes the proceedings of the International Symposium on Multimedia Communications and Video Coding (ISMCVC95) held October 11 - 13, 1995, at the Poly technic University in Brooklyn, New York. This Symposium was organized under the aus pices of the New York State funded Center for Advanced Technology in Telecommunications (CATT), in cooperation with the Communications Society and the Signal Processing Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). In preparing this book, we have summarized the topics presented in various sessions of the Symposium, including the keynote addresses, the Service Provider and Vendor Session, the Panel Discussion, as well as the twelve Technical Sessions. This summary is presented in the Introduction. 'Full papers submitted by the presenters are organized into eleven chapters, divided into three parts. Part I focuses on systems issues in multimedia communications. Part II concentrates on video coding algorithms. Part III discusses the interplay between video coding and network control for video delivery over various channels.
Book Synopsis Readings in Multimedia Computing and Networking by : Kevin Jeffay
Download or read book Readings in Multimedia Computing and Networking written by Kevin Jeffay and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-08-10 with total page 885 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Readings in Multimedia Computing and Networking captures the broad areas of research and developments in this burgeoning field, distills the key findings, and makes them accessible to professionals, researchers, and students alike. For the first time, the most influential and innovative papers on these topics are presented in a cohesive form, giving shape to the diverse area of multimedia computing. The seminal moments are recorded by a dozen visionaries in the field and each contributing editor provides a context for their area of research by way of a thoughtful, focused chapter introduction. The volume editors, Kevin Jeffay and HongJiang Zhang, offer further incisive interpretations of past and present developments in this area, including those within media and content processing, operating systems, and networking support for multimedia. This book will provide you with a sound understanding of the theoretical and practical issues at work in the field's continuing evolution. * Offers an in-depth look at the technical challenges in multimedia and provides real and potential solutions that promise to expand the role of multimedia in business, entertainment, and education.* Examines in Part One issues at the heart of multimedia processes: the means by which multimedia data are coded, compressed, indexed, retrieved, and otherwise manipulated.* Examines in Part Two the accommodation of these processes by storage systems, operating systems, network protocols, and applications.* Written by leading researchers, the introductions give shape to a field that is continually defining itself and place the key research findings in context to those who need to understand the state-of-the art developments.

Book Synopsis Modern Methods of Speech Processing by : Ravi P. Ramachandran
Download or read book Modern Methods of Speech Processing written by Ravi P. Ramachandran and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term speech processing refers to the scientific discipline concerned with the analysis and processing of speech signals for getting the best benefit in various practical scenarios. These different practical scenarios correspond to a large variety of applications of speech processing research. Examples of some applications include enhancement, coding, synthesis, recognition and speaker recognition. A very rapid growth, particularly during the past ten years, has resulted due to the efforts of many leading scientists. The ideal aim is to develop algorithms for a certain task that maximize performance, are computationally feasible and are robust to a wide class of conditions. The purpose of this book is to provide a cohesive collection of articles that describe recent advances in various branches of speech processing. The main focus is in describing specific research directions through a detailed analysis and review of both the theoretical and practical settings. The intended audience includes graduate students who are embarking on speech research as well as the experienced researcher already working in the field. For graduate students taking a course, this book serves as a supplement to the course material. As the student focuses on a particular topic, the corresponding set of articles in this book will serve as an initiation through exposure to research issues and by providing an extensive reference list to commence a literature survey. Expe rienced researchers can utilize this book as a reference guide and can expand their horizons in this rather broad area.
