Book Synopsis Functional Programming, Concurrency, Simulation and Automated Reasoning by : Peter E. Lauer
Download or read book Functional Programming, Concurrency, Simulation and Automated Reasoning written by Peter E. Lauer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1993-06-16 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of papers arose from a series of lectures for workers in computer science and other disciplines. The lectures were intended to familiarize them with some of the most exciting advanced computer based systems for the conceptualization, design, implementation, simulation, and logical analysis of applications in these disciplines. The collection presents some strong motivational points for the use of theory based systems in the areas of functional programming, concurrency, simulation, and automated reasoning, highlighting some of their advantages and disadvantages relative to conventional systems. The papers are mostly the work of individuals who were among the originators of the systemspresented. The volume is intended as a contribution to narrowing the learning gap facing conventional computer users when they wish to use advanced theory based systems. The papers are meant for a wide audience and should not require great mathematical sophistication for their comprehension. The papers contain numerous references for those wishing to pursue a topic in greater depth.

Book Synopsis Algorithm Engineering for Integral and Dynamic Problems by : Lucia Rapanotti
Download or read book Algorithm Engineering for Integral and Dynamic Problems written by Lucia Rapanotti and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2001-01-23 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Algorithm engineering allows computer engineers to produce a computational machine that will execute an algorithm as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible given a set of constraints, such as minimal performance or the availability of technology. Addressing algorithm engineering in a parallel setting, regular array syntheses offer powerful computation and embody best practice, but often face the criticism that they are applicable only to restricted classes of algorithms. Algorithm Engineering for Integral and Dynamic Problems reviews the basic principles of regular array synthesis and shows how to extend its use into classes of algorithms traditionally viewed to be beyond its domain of application. The author discusses the transformation of the initial algorithm specification into a specification with data dependencies of increased regularity in order to obtain corresponding regular arrays by direct application of the standard mapping techniques. The book includes a review of the basic principles of regular array synthesis followed by applications of these techniques to well-known algorithms, concluding with numerous case studies to illustrate the methods. Researchers and practitioners in algorithm engineering will find that this text significantly extends their understanding of the applications of regular array synthesis and regular array processors beyond the traditionally narrow field of relevance.

Book Synopsis Spectral Analysis by : Francis Castanié
Download or read book Spectral Analysis written by Francis Castanié and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-03-01 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with these parametric methods, first discussing those based on time series models, Capon’s method and its variants, and then estimators based on the notions of sub-spaces. However, the book also deals with the traditional “analog” methods, now called non-parametric methods, which are still the most widely used in practical spectral analysis.
Book Synopsis Radar Array Processing by : Simon Haykin
Download or read book Radar Array Processing written by Simon Haykin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radar Array Processing presents modern techniques and methods for processingradar signals received by an array of antenna elements. With the recent rapid growth of the technology of hardware for digital signal processing, itis now possible to apply this to radar signals and thus to enlist the full power of sophisticated computational algorithms. Topics covered in detail here include: super-resolution methods of array signal processing as applied to radar, adaptive beam forming for radar, and radar imaging. This book will be of interest to researchers and studentsin the radar community and also in related fields such as sonar, seismology, acoustics and radio astronomy.

Book Synopsis Underwater Acoustic Data Processing by : Y. T. Chan
Download or read book Underwater Acoustic Data Processing written by Y. T. Chan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the papers that were accepted for presentation at the 1988 NATO Advanced Study Institute on Underwater Acoustic Data Processing, held at the Royal Military College of Canada from 18 to 29 July, 1988. Approximately 110 participants from various NATO countries were in attendance during this two week period. Their research interests range from underwater acoustics to signal processing and computer science; some are renowned scientists and some are recent Ph.D. graduates. The purpose of the ASI was to provide an authoritative summing up of the various research activities related to sonar technology. The exposition on each subject began with one or two tutorials prepared by invited lecturers, followed by research papers which provided indications of the state of development in that specific area. I have broadly classified the papers into three sections under the titles of I. Propagation and Noise, II. Signal Processing and III. Post Processing. The reader will find in Section I papers on low frequency acoustic sources and effects of the medium on underwater acoustic propagation. Problems such as coherence loss due to boundary interaction, wavefront distortion and multipath transmission were addressed. Besides the medium, corrupting noise sources also have a strong influence on the performance of a sonar system and several researchers described methods of modeling these sources.
Book Synopsis Digital Spectral Analysis by : Francis Castanié
Download or read book Digital Spectral Analysis written by Francis Castanié and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-02-04 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital Spectral Analysis provides a single source that offers complete coverage of the spectral analysis domain. This self-contained work includes details on advanced topics that are usually presented in scattered sources throughout the literature. The theoretical principles necessary for the understanding of spectral analysis are discussed in the first four chapters: fundamentals, digital signal processing, estimation in spectral analysis, and time-series models. An entire chapter is devoted to the non-parametric methods most widely used in industry. High resolution methods are detailed in a further four chapters: spectral analysis by stationary time series modeling, minimum variance, and subspace-based estimators. Finally, advanced concepts are the core of the last four chapters: spectral analysis of non-stationary random signals, space time adaptive processing: irregularly sampled data processing, particle filtering and tracking of varying sinusoids. Suitable for students, engineers working in industry, and academics at any level, this book provides a rare complete overview of the spectral analysis domain.
