Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I reached down and grabbed it through my pants just to make sure it wasn’t some trick of the light. I gasped as my fingers brushed against it, completely unused to the sensation that was suddenly rolling through my body. I slipped my thumbs into the sides of my pajama pants and slid them down to get a better look. Just as I had feared, there it was, pointing up at me as I laid on the bed. A night of fun with her roommate turns into a life-changing experience for Penny. She may have gone to bed a woman, but she discovers something very different waiting for her when she wakes up! The panic of the situation is quickly pushed aside by the new desires that are coursing through Penny’s brand new male body. What begins with a little self-exploration quickly becomes an erotic experience that he’ll never forget. When he decides to seek help from his roommate Georgia, she can’t contain herself at the sight of the new hunk in the apartment. Will they resist the temptation or fall prey to their own primal feelings of lust? This book contains depictions of explicit sexual content, including gender changing, masturbation, oral sex, intercourse and a lot of hot, confused feelings between two best friends. All characters are at least 18 years of age and all sex depicted is consensual.

Book excerpt: Angela Katz-McNair has never felt quite right as a girl, but it’s a shock to everyone when she cuts her hair short, buys some men’s clothes, and announces she’d like to be called by a new name, Grady. Grady is happy about his decision to finally be true to himself, despite the practical complications, like which gym locker room to use. And though he didn’t expect his family and friends to be happy about his decision, he also didn’t expect kids at school to be downright nasty about it. But as the victim of some cruel jokes, Grady also finds unexpected allies in this thought-provoking novel that explores struggles any reader can relate to.

Devor (sociology, U. of Victoria) focuses on the processes by means of which people come to identify themselves as members of a seemingly incongruous social group and them remake their lives so that they function as apparently native- born members of the group. She concludes that most issues confronted by transsexuals are neither theoretically nor practically distinct from those faced by other members of society. If you're at the point where being female is affecting your emotional and mental health, or where you simply hate yourself for being a female, then perhaps a female to male (FTM) sex change surgery is the best thing to do so that you can finally feel more authentic in your own body. Sex changes from female to male have been successfully done thousands of times all around the world. This success rate is excellent with more and more people opting to resolve their Gender Dysphoria through sex change in order to lead happier lives. Before moving forward though, there is a lot of important information that you should be aware of. But just as with any procedure, there are risks involved, and it's crucial that you are aware of them. Sex change can be a daunting process, especially if you don't know the specifics of and what to expect from the procedure. Knowing and understanding the process will make for a smoother transition to your new gender and social environment after the surgery. The process of changing gender is not as simple or straightforward as you may think. The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (or WPATH) has certain standards that must be met before you will be allowed to undergo surgery. Also, it's important to fully prepare yourself for the permanent, irreversible transformation that gender reassignment surgery will have on your entire persona. This book was written to provide you with various things you should consider as you make this critical life-changing decision. Book excerpt: Matt Kailey lived as a straight woman for the first forty-two years of his life. Though happy as a social worker and teacher, he knew something wasn't right. Then he made some changes. With the help of a good therapist, chest surgery, and some strong doses of testosterone, Kailey began his journey toward becoming a man. As his body morphed and his voice dropped, Kailey began noticing subtle shifts in the way he was treated. Men suddenly stopped offering to change flat tires for him but insisted on talking to him about women and bodily functions. Women got nervous when he baby-talked to their infants but routinely asked him to move heavy things around the office. In these everyday exchanges, Kailey recognized the many ways we define what it means to be male. He also realized that, with few role models, he had to learn to accept himself as a person between two genders. As he writes about his transition from female to male, Kailey answers all the questions you've ever had about what it's like to live as a transsexual. From the fear of public restrooms to deciding whether to "pack" his pants, Kailey explains what the world looks like from his new vantage point-a position more people are discovering as gender transitions become increasingly common. More than a memoir, Just Add Hormones is full of sound advice for those who may be questioning their gender. And through his story, Kailey offers valuable insights to the families and friends of those who have started a transition. Funny, fresh, and incredibly candid, Just Add Hormones can help us all consider-and even laugh at-our own notions of what it means to be a man or a woman.

Book excerpt: FTM: Female-to-Male Transsexuals in Society provides a compassionate, intimate, and incisive look at the life experiences of forty-five female-to-male transsexuals. Until now, little has been known about these individuals, and questions persist about them. Who are they? How do they come to know themselves as transsexual? What do they do about it? How do their families cope? Who loves them? What does it mean for the rest of us? To answer these and other questions, Holly Devor spent many years compiling in-depth interviews and researching the lives of transsexual and transgendered people, many of whom became her friends. She traces the everyday and significant events that coalesce in transsexual identity, culminating in gender and sex transformation. After an introduction which grounds the discussion in historical and theoretical contexts, the author takes a life course approach to understanding female-to-male transsexualism. Using her subjects' own words as illustrations, Devor looks at how childhood, adolescent, and adult experiences with family members, peers, and lovers work to shape and clarify female-to-male transsexuals' images of themselves as people who should be men.

Book excerpt: This volume examines and theorizes the oft-ignored phenomenon of male-to-female (MTF) crossdressing in early modern drama, prose, and poetry, inviting MTF crossdressing episodes to take a fuller place alongside instances of female-to-male crossdressing and boy actors’ crossdressing, which have long held the spotlight in early modern gender studies. The author argues that MTF crossdressing episodes are especially rich sources for socially-oriented readings of queer gender—that crossdressers’ genders are constructed and represented in relation to romantic partners, communities, and broader social structures like marriage, economy, and sexuality. Further, she argues that these relational representations show that the crossdresser and his/her allies often benefit financially, socially, and erotically from his/her queer gender presentation, a corrective to the dominant idea that queer gender has always been associated with shame, containment, and correction. By attending to these relational and beneficial representations of MTF crossdressers in early modern literature, the volume helps to make a larger space for queer, genderqueer, male-bodied and queer-feminine representations in our conversations about early modern gender and sexuality.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Transgender and Jewish" tells the story of the first wave of gender-nonconforming Jews to take its place in the mainstream. Today, trans Jews direct summer camps, write ritual and even lead congregations as rabbis. Yet while non-Orthodox venues have made enormous strides in welcoming gay and lesbian members in recent decades, some trans people say they still feel like outsiders in Jewish settings, including, at times, the synagogues or camps they attended before their gender expression changed. "Transgender and Jewish" explores the world of trans Jews as they push for inclusion, and, through their presence, help congregations and denominations move beyond rigid definitions of male and female. For the people in the book -- and their communities -- being transgender and Jewish is not a contradiction in terms, but a viable and flourishing identity.
