Book excerpt: Nel nuovo Conceptual Framework licenziato nel 2010 dallo IASB manca, tra i fini del bilancio, ogni riferimento esplicito alla stewardship, mentre invece si presenta alquanto «rafforzata» la decision usefulness (nell’accezione di valuation decision usefulness). Tale opzione è il risultato di una decisione alquanto tormentata, che ha determinato insistenti critiche, soprattutto in ambito europeo, a causa delle conseguenze – specialmente in termini di measurement – che essa potrebbe determinare nel futuro sugli IAS/IFRS. È ragionevole ipotizzare che la scelta dello IASB sia stata motivata dall’influenza esercitata su tale organismo dal FASB nordamericano. Le caratteristiche dell’impresa tipica statunitense inducono infatti a un modello di bilancio dove la decision usefulness assume un ruolo prevalente e assorbente rispetto alla stewardship. L’opposto è vero nel contesto dell’Europa Continentale: da qui le numerose critiche che la decisione dello IASB ha suscitato in Europa. Il lavoro prende le mosse dall’analisi dei temi del decision usefulness e dello stewardship objective, così come si sono sviluppati, dapprima negli Stati Uniti d’America, poi in ambito IASB. Successivamente, ne approfondisce il grado di compatibilità con il modello contabile prevalente in Italia e negli altri paesi dell’Europa Continentale, per giungere infine a formulare alcune osservazioni critiche circa il recepimento dei principi contabili IAS/IFRS in contesti ambientali – quale per molti versi è quello europeo-continentale – distanti da quello nordamericano che gli studiosi generalmente riconoscono essere la loro matrice culturale.
