Book Synopsis Strong Girl, Brave Girl by : Kelsey Baldwin
Download or read book Strong Girl, Brave Girl written by Kelsey Baldwin and published by Paper + Oats, LLC. This book was released on 2018-09-14 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When life-changing pain is coupled with the welcoming of a new story for yourself, the word bittersweet just doesn't do it justice. You are quite literally in the middle - anchored between where you thought you were headed and where you're going now. In that uncertain middle space is where this story takes place, and maybe where you find yourself, too. The life Kelsey Baldwin had imagined for herself, the one she was right in the middle of, quickly crumbled around her on a single day as she was faced with a looming divorce while staring at a positive pregnancy test. It wasn't the way it was supposed to go. With each uncertain transition she went through - divorce, pregnancy, giving birth, moving cities, dating, raising a child without a partner - she clung to what she knew for sure: she was a strong girl and a brave girl, and the middle was not the ending. (Spoiler: that's why it's called the middle.)My story might look really different than yours, but I'm willing to bet you find threads from my messy middle that are also woven into yours.

Book Synopsis 13 Things Mentally Strong Women Don't Do by : Amy Morin
Download or read book 13 Things Mentally Strong Women Don't Do written by Amy Morin and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2018-12-31 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the time of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement, international bestselling author and leading global expert on mental strength Amy Morin turns her focus to feminism, explaining what it means—and what it takes—to be a mentally strong woman. The emergence of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements have awakened society and encouraged women to find their voice and claim their power. But to do this, women must learn to improve their own mental strength. Contending with a host of difficult issues—from sexual assault on college campuses, to equal pay and pay gaps, to mastering different negotiation styles—demands psychological toughness. In this crucial book, prominent psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker Amy Morin gives women the techniques to build mental muscle—and just as important, she teaches them what not to do. What does it mean to be a mentally strong woman? Delving into critical issues like sexism, social media, social comparison, and social pressure, Amy addresses this question and offers thoughtful, intelligent advice, practical tips, and specific strategies and combines them with personal experiences, stories from former patients, and both well-known and untold examples from women from across industries and pop culture. Throughout, she explores the areas women—and society at large—must focus on to become (and remain) mentally strong. Amy reveals that healthy, mentally tough women don’t insist on perfection; they don’t compare themselves to other people; they don’t see vulnerability as a weakness; they don’t let self-doubt stop them from reaching their goals. Wise, grounded, and essential, 13 Things Mentally Strong Women Don’t Do can help every woman flourish—and ultimately improve our society as well.

Download or read book Fur Kids written by Resh Ramlakan and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I recently wrote a book in honour of my beloved Boerboel and Cross Boerboel dogs. It is a book that highlights a series of events which transformed me from a girl who didnt like dogs to a lady whose heart has been filled with unconditional love for them. It is an amazing story of love in its truest and most sincere form. Boerboels are intelligent, self-assured dogs bred to have extremely strong guarding instincts, and it is the only breed in the world bred with only one purpose, to guard and protect his family. The book highlights how cross breeding and inter breeding has led to many Boerboels in South Africa becoming prone to getting elbow and hip dysplasia. Three of my dogs were diagnosed with hip dysplasia with two having been put to sleep as a result of this condition. By writing this book I hope to create awareness in many ways. Firstly, to let people know the love and joy that animals bring into our lives and show them how rewarding it can be. Secondly, to raise awareness about buying Boerboels from registered breeders and lastly, to put more focus on the beautiful South African Boerboel itself, in an effort to preserve the breed. The book highlights love, loyalty, happiness, sadness and tells of my experiences over the years with my 5 fur kids. This is a book that will inspire people to never give up but to keep on trying.

At ten, India climbed the highest on the rope at gymnastics, yet by sixteen was so weak she was unable to even dress herself. The narrative follows the six-year fight for answers from the medical community. Finally, after the genetic testing of India’s DNA, it was discovered there were two mutations on her ASAH1 gene, a deadly combination. Today her cells are alive in a research lab at the University of Ottawa. This is a legacy that cuts both ways, a point of pride and pain.
