Book excerpt: Sequel to the hit thriller "When Truth and Justice Die." While the United States reels in the wake of anarchy unleashed by Tymax and the amoral masses, the lives of Ferguson, Bauer, Isaac, and their fellow patriots are transformed by a mysterious set of documents. Tyranny gains a foothold and spreads like a disease across the land. The angel and the prophet strengthen the patriots' will and confirm the direction they must travel, but the enemy of freedom does not rest. The tyrant and his vassals grope for riches and power and strike a massive blow, but the patriots fight on, carrying the torch of freedom and striving to rescue our nation from the growing wave of oppression. Where will the patriot's path lead, and what will the outcome be? The destiny of freedom lies in the balance as the dwindling flame of patriotism ignites a journey of faith, a race against time, treachery, and the demon of human greed.

Download or read book Redwood Ritual written by RD Borden Jr. and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-10-14 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This has been a very trying project to complete. Redwood Ritual is the objective observation of the world as it is today as it presently presents itself. Though this required far less time than Soul Split Son, Redwood Ritual is quite comprehensive. I've explored various writing styles to express the messages I sought to convey. Some were created in an abstract form, where my thoughts took the lead with no regard to organization. Others explored political events and the cultural metamorphosis which is ever evolving. And then there are entries which directly attack certain facets of life, which we as individuals deem to be imperative to our own ways of life. No one person or group was targeted, but the point and purpose of Redwood Ritual was to illustrate the direction we as a society are headed towards in contrast to the lifestyle and values my generation was raised to embody. It has been said that change and progress are a good thing, however; what happens when we repeat history and trends? There can be no growth, but we will stand mired and lost as a world culture fixated on what has become socially and financially acceptable. We treat the phrase "politically correct" as the benchmark for conversation and education. People have become intimated, shying away from being honest and transparent about their thoughts and emotions. And it is my hope that Redwood Ritual proves itself to be a segway for open communication and unbiased transparent observations.

Download or read book Storming Heaven: A Novel written by Denise Giardina and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 2010-07-05 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the story of the miners and the union they wanted, of the people who loved them and the people who wanted to kill their dreams. Annadel, West Virginia, was a small town rich in coal, farms, and close-knit families, all destroyed when the coal company came in. It stole everything it hadn't bothered to buy—land deeds, private homes, and ultimately, the souls of its men and women. Four people tell this powerful, deeply moving tale: Activist Mayor C. J. Marcum. Fierce, loveless union man Rondal Lloyd. Gutsy nurse Carrie Bishop, who loved Rondal. And lonely, Sicilian immigrant Rosa Angelelli, who lost four sons to the deadly mines. They all bear witness to nearly forgotten events of history, culminating in the final, tragic Battle of Blair Mountain—when the United States Army greeted ten thousand unemployed pro-union miners with airplanes, bombs, and poison gas. It was the first crucial battle of a war that has yet to be won.
