Groundwater resources are readily and reliably available compared with surface water resources. In many contexts, the presence of groundwater ensures the presence of life itself. The XXXII IAH (International Association of Hydrogeologists) and VI ALHSUD (Latin-American Association of Groundwater Hydrology for Development) Congress on Groundwater and Human Development, held in 2002, in Mar del Plata (Argentina), brought together over 400 participants from more than 40 countries. This lively gathering of water enthusiasts exchanged experiences of both fieldwork and research. Topics under discussion and scrutiny included: Groundwater and Quality of Life; Groundwater in Urban, Suburban and Rural Systems; Transboundary Aquifers; Hydrogeology of Large Plains; Coastal Aquifers; Methods for Groundwater Studies; and Education about Groundwater and Groundwater Management. This book contains selected papers, plenary lectures and material from workshops, illustrating the contribution of modern hydrogeology to sustaining humanity's thirst for fresh and safe water.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: AI Onboarding is the process of fine-tuning generic pre-trained AI models using the transfer learning process and the organisation's proprietary data, such as intellectual property (IP), customer data, and other domain-specific datasets. This fine-tuning transforms a generic AI model into a bespoke business tool that understands organisation-specific terminology, makes decisions in line with internal policies and strategies, and provides insights that are directly relevant to the organisation's goals and challenges. Standing in the way of this powerful transformation is the AI onboarding challenge of protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of proprietary data as it is collected, stored, processed and used in fine-tuning. The Secure AI Onboarding Framework is designed to address this challenge by supporting the “Risk Identification” and “Risk treatment” phases of ISO/IEC 27005". It decomposes authoritative resources including the AI Act, OWASP, NIST CSF 2.0, and AI RMF into four critical components, namely Risks, Security Controls, Assessment Questions and Control Implementation Guidance. These components help organisations first, to identify the risks relevant to their AI system and proprietary data, second, define an AI system statement of applicable controls to treat the risks. Thirdly, assess the implementation status of those controls to identify gaps in their readiness to onboard the AI system, and finally, they provide control implementation guidance to facilitate the correct control implementation. Ultimately minimising the security risks related to onboarding AI systems and securely integrating them into their business teams and processes.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Human Resource Management, by Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart and Wright is specifically written to provide a brief introduction to human resource management. While it doesn't cover the depths of human resource management theory, the book is rich with examples and engages students through application. This first edition takes on a different approach than the hardback text by the same team. Instead of a higher level of theory that's geared towards the HRM professional, this book focuses on the uses of human resources for the general population. Issues such as strategy are reduced to give a greater focus on how human resources is used in the every day work environment.Much like this author team's first project, Fundamentals of Human Resource Management provides instructors with a robust ancillary package. A comprehensive instructor's manual, test bank, PowerPoint presentation and a complete Online Learning Center make course preparation easy.
