Book excerpt: The Psycanics Self-Change Technology Just as you can learn to program a computer or fix your car, you can learn to re-program and "fix" anything in your own BEing and life. YOU can eliminate ALL your negative emotions, behaviors, low self-esteem, and relationship conflicts; and replace them with True Happiness: serenity, peace, satisfaction, love, and joy, all the time no matter what. There is a new science of how to do this. Psycanics is a revolutionary science of BEing. It is the physics of your internal, nonphysical energies: emotions, thoughts, behaviors, relationships, love, and happiness. It is NOT an evolution of psychology; it is a totally new paradigm of how life really works. Psycanics and its Being Transformation Technology (BTT) are as far beyond psychotherapy today as an airliner is beyond a sailing ship. BTT is a powerful self-change procedure with which you go into your subconscious to the underlying real causes of your negative feelings and behaviors. You then discreate those factors and create the positive experiences that you desire to live.Being Transformation Technology is relatively simple. You can learn and apply it to your Self, no therapist needed. In fact, DIY (Do-It-Yourself) is the only way you will ever be able to make all the changes you would like in your Self and in your life. It is simply too expensive and time-consuming to run to a therapist every time you want to change something. With Psycanics, you can permanently eliminate:All negative Emotions: anger, anxiety, fear, hate, grief, etc.Phobias (heights, flying, water, snakes, dying).Existential stress (e.g. divorce, losing job, cancer, death of a loved one, etc.)DepressionNegative self-esteem.Mind: all negative thoughts and limiting beliefs. All negative Behaviors such as: blocks to taking action (writer's block, starting a business, getting a divorce, stage fright, shyness, etc.).addictions (alcohol, tobacco, prescription meds, illegal drugs, etc.) compulsions (gambling, porn, shopping, overeating, social media, video games, etc.)Traumatic incidentsPTSD: Psycanics eliminates PTSD in a few hours. Relationship Problems: Change the internal causes of relationship conflicts and your relationships transform to harmony, love, and cooperation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New York Times bestselling author, superstar comedian, and Hollywood box office star Kevin Hart turns his immense talent to the written word in this “hilarious but also heartfelt” (Elle) memoir on survival, success, and the importance of believing in yourself. The question you’re probably asking yourself right now is: What does Kevin Hart have that a book also has? According to the three people who have seen Kevin Hart and a book in the same room, the answer is clear: A book is compact. Kevin Hart is compact. A book has a spine that holds it together. Kevin Hart has a spine that holds him together. A book has a beginning. Kevin Hart’s life uniquely qualifies him to write this book by also having a beginning. It begins in North Philadelphia. He was born an accident, unwanted by his parents. His father was a drug addict who was in and out of jail. His brother was a crack dealer and petty thief. And his mother was overwhelmingly strict, beating him with belts, frying pans, and his own toys. The odds, in short, were stacked against our young hero. But Kevin Hart, like Ernest Hemingway, J.K. Rowling, and Chocolate Droppa before him, was able to defy the odds and turn it around. In his literary debut, he takes us on a journey through what his life was, what it is today, and how he’s overcome each challenge to become the man he is today. And that man happens to be the biggest comedian in the world, with tours that sell out football stadiums and films that have collectively grossed over $3.5 billion. He achieved this not just through hard work, determination, and talent. “Hart is an incredibly magnetic storyteller, on the page as he is onstage, and that’s what shines through [in this] genial, entertaining guide to a life in comedy” (Kirkus Reviews).

Book excerpt: Cognitive therapy, a core approach within a collection of psychotherapeutic techniques known as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), is fundamentally about changing peoples' thoughts-helping them overcome difficulties by recognizing and changing dysfunctional thinking styles. Among other strategies, it requires encouraging the development of skills for rehearsing new habits of thought, modifying biases in judging and interpreting social and emotional information, and for testing assumptions underlying dysfunctional and negative, distorted thinking. In How and Why Thoughts Change, Dr. Ian Evans.520 In the 21st century, the concept of ethics may seem outdated or obsolete. But in reality, ethics is the omnipresent, ongoing discussion going on in our global communities today. Systematically, people condemn, sanction, demonize, and freely judge one another. As a result, by addressing the simplest of questions ("), laws are legislated and the moral code is created. But what is morality, exactly? And how does the moral code shape the story of our lives? Written from the perspective of a social psychologist, The Psychology of Good and Evil explores the answers to these big questions in fascinating detail, all while illuminating the inner workings of the human mind, human nature, and the foundations of our beliefs. -- Provided by publisher.

Pregnancy and new parenthood can be fraught with numerous potential distressing situations, such as infertility, pregnancy and postpartum complications, pregnancy losses, and childbirth. It’s no wonder that 1 out of 3 parents report their birth experiences were traumatic, and upwards of 40% of new parents can experience PTSD during the perinatal period. Perhaps it was what happened to you that was distressing, and maybe it was how you were treated that created or added to the distress. This can be a difficult time to navigate, particularly if you feel scared, overwhelmed by your symptoms, and isolated and alone. And yet, there is hope for healing! This workbook was written to help you build resilience and navigate difficult feelings. Drawing from empirically validated research and clinical experience, this book will help you educate yourself to further understand what you have experienced, and learn how to manage your trauma reactions. Written with sleep-deprived and traumatized parents and parents-to-be in mind, this book is divided into easy-to-read sections to help you manage your emotions and find validation and reassurance. Chapters begin by helping you identify what reproductive trauma is, what is happening "below the surface" with the brain and body’s reactive responses, and the various emotional aspects of these events. The second section focuses on building tangible skills to manage the impact of trauma, including trauma reactions and the influence on relationships and attachment with the baby. The third section provides a map of the future, instils hope around healing, highlights professional treatment options, and explores the complicated decision about future pregnancies. Whether you are preparing for trauma therapy, already working with a mental health therapist, or just starting to explore aspects of your experience, this workbook can provide support wherever you are on your healing journey. Filled with activities and gentle writing prompts, this comprehensive resource is essential for expecting or new parents who have experienced traumatic distress during this time, as well as mental health clinicians and birth providers.

Book excerpt: Tackling relationships, career, and family issues, John Kim, LMFT, thinks of himself as a life-styledesigner, not a therapist. His radical new approach, that he sometimes calls “self-help in a shot glass” is easy, real, and to the point. He helps people make changes to their lives so that personal growth happens organically, just by living. Let’s face it, therapy is a luxury. Few of us have the time or money to devote to going to an office every week. With anecdotes illustrating principles in action (in relatable and sometimes irreverent fashion) and stand-alone practices and exercises, Kim gives readers the tools and directions to focus on what's right with them instead of what's wrong. When John Kim was going through the end of a relationship, he began blogging as The Angry Therapist, documenting his personal journey post-divorce. Traditional therapists avoid transparency, but Kim preferred the language of "me too" as opposed to "you should." He blogged about his own shortcomings, revelations, views on relationships, and the world. He spoke a different therapeutic language —open, raw, and at times subversive — and people responded. The Angry Therapist blog, that inspired this book, has been featured in The Atlantic Monthly and on NPR.

Book excerpt: This edition provides a complete guide to precision reflexology, covering the basic techniques and knowledge and now includes a new chapter on the latest advanced techniques which have developed in recent years by the author. Redesigned into a user friendly format. Photos have been updated throughout. This text is appropriate for those practitioners already using this technique and for those who have yet to discover it. Precision Reflexology holds the same rationale as other forms of reflexology. It focuses on stimulating "reflex points" on the feet to maintain good health. Precision work connects to a person energetically, responds to the needs of each individual and aims to maintain natural balance. It does not rely on physical pressure but, at the same time, it can be powerful and effective. It can be taught in its own right or it can be adapted to enhance other forms of reflexology in post-graduate training. It provides an added dimension to a treatment and reflects an Eastern approach to healthcare. This book offers a step-by-step guide, with illustrations and charts for its application.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Malcolm Fraser knew from personal experience what the person who stutters is up against. His introduction to stuttering corrective procedures first came at the age of fifteen under the direction of Frederick Martin, M.D., who at that time was Superintendent of Speech Correction for the New York City schools. A few years later, he worked with J. Stanley Smith, L.L.D., a stutterer and philanthropist, who, for altruistic reasons, founded the Kingsley Clubs in Philadelphia and New York that were named after the English author, Charles Kingsley, who also stuttered. The Kingsley Clubs were small groups of adult stutterers who met one night a week to try out treatment ideas then in effect. In fact, they were actually practicing group therapy as they talked about their experiences and exchanged ideas. This exchange gave each of the members a better understanding of the problem. The founder often led the discussions at both clubs. In 1928 Malcolm Fraser joined his older brother Carlyle who founded the NAPA-Genuine Parts Company that year in Atlanta, Georgia. He became an important leader in the company and was particularly outstanding in training others for leadership roles. In 1947, with a successful career under way, he founded the Stuttering Foundation of America. In subsequent years, he added generously to the endowment so that at the present time, endowment income covers over fifty percent of the operating budget. In 1984, Malcolm Fraser received the fourth annual National Council on Communicative Disorders' Distinguished Service Award. The NCCD, a council of 32 national organizations, recognized the Foundation's efforts in "adding to stutterers', parents', clinicians', and the public's awareness and ability to deal constructively with stuttering." Book excerpt: BOOKER PRIZE WINNER • NATIONAL BESTSELLER • A novel that follows a middle-aged man as he contends with a past he never much thought about—until his closest childhood friends return with a vengeance: one of them from the grave, another maddeningly present. A novel so compelling that it begs to be read in a single setting, The Sense of an Ending has the psychological and emotional depth and sophistication of Henry James at his best, and is a stunning achievement in Julian Barnes's oeuvre. Tony Webster thought he left his past behind as he built a life for himself, and his career has provided him with a secure retirement and an amicable relationship with his ex-wife and daughter, who now has a family of her own. But when he is presented with a mysterious legacy, he is forced to revise his estimation of his own nature and place in the world.
