Award-winning author and National Geographic Traveler writer Jerry Camarillo Dunn takes you on a remarkable journey with such amazing and diverse figures as Sandra Day O’Connor and the Dalai Lama, actors Robin Williams and Morgan Freeman, astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Sally Ride, explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau, real estate mogul Donald Trump, entertainer Jerry Seinfeld, food guru Alice Waters, and author Tony Hillerman. His simple question to these people: What is your favorite travel discovery? The answers are both surprising and engaging—ranging from Bali Indonesia to a well-used bench at San Francisco’s Crissy Field, from the Hopi Mesas in Arizona to the Old City of Jerusalem. In page after page, celebrated contributors describe the special appeal of each place—be it the amazing beauty, or the character of the people, or simply the hushed joy of solitude. To enhance the stories further, Dunn scoured the files of National Geographic to create sidebars full of intriguing information about each place—and even steers you to websites that tell how you can visit them yourself. But the real allure is the entertaining narrative, inviting readers to experience the excitement of traveling with these celebrated personalities to their favorite places on Earth. In the morning, you are the wonderful, happy thing. You remind people of sunrises, cuddly animals at the zoo, flowers, and even amusement park rides. As long as you’re around, every vacation is the best. You’re like a fairy tale; you make things magic! “You’re my favorite everything” is a phrase author J. J. Allen has said to her children and grandchildren every day. After years of using endearing quips to find different ways to express her love, she wanted to share her words with parents. She encourages verbalization of emotions to loved ones with sweet phrases and kind expressions. Kind words have a remarkable effect on self-confidence, so it’s important to tell the ones we love just how special they are. From exchanging laughs and dreams to going on adventures and telling stories, You’re My Favorite Everything will strike a chord for readers, parents, and children alike. By loving each other, we make the world a better place and make each other better members of the human race! “Lines and images from some books are so special they remain fixed in our memories for a long time, years and even decades after the children who were read these stories are grown and have children of their own. J.J. Allen’s “You’re My Favorite Everything” promises to be one of those special books, written with soft, comforting language that brings the reader and listener joy, and confidence that things are all right. Children who hear this book will probably be reciting it by memory to their own children years in the future.” Glenn Adams Freelance writer Retired Associated Press Writer

Book excerpt: From the National Book Award–winning author of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, the tale of a troubled boy’s trip through history. Half Native American and half Irish, fifteen-year-old “Zits” has spent much of his short life alternately abused and ignored as an orphan and ward of the foster care system. Ever since his mother died, he’s felt alienated from everyone, but, thanks to the alcoholic father whom he’s never met, especially disconnected from other Indians. After he runs away from his latest foster home, he makes a new friend. Handsome, charismatic, and eloquent, Justice soon persuades Zits to unleash his pain and anger on the uncaring world. But picking up a gun leads Zits on an unexpected time-traveling journey through several violent moments in American history, experiencing life as an FBI agent during the civil rights movement, a mute Indian boy during the Battle of Little Bighorn, a nineteenth-century Indian tracker, and a modern-day airplane pilot. When Zits finally returns to his own body, “he begins to understand what it means to be the hero, the villain and the victim. . . . Mr. Alexie succeeds yet again with his ability to pierce to the heart of matters, leaving this reader with tears in her eyes” (The New York Times Book Review). Sherman Alexie’s acclaimed novels have turned a spotlight on the unique experiences of modern-day Native Americans, and here, the New York Times–bestselling author of The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven and The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian takes a bold new turn, combining magical realism with his singular humor and insight. This ebook features an illustrated biography of Sherman Alexie including rare photos from the author’s personal collection.

But Meredith's peace is shattered when her uncle schemes to marry her off to his son in order to gain her inheritance. Desperate, Meredith has only one choice: to flee with Annabel to their estranged grandparents' home. But their arrival soon reignites a family scandal--and kindles unexpected romance. . . Happily reunited with the girls, Annabel's grandmother resolves to convince her nephew, Stephen Mallory, the Marquess of Silverton, to abandon his rakish lifestyle and wed Annabel. Stephen is clearly captivated--but with the wrong sister! Determined to make Meredith his own, Stephen embarks on a seduction that will leave her with no choice but to surrender to his touch. . . Sex and the Single Earl Praise for Vanessa Kelly and Sex and the Single Earl "A sensual treat!" -Anna Campbell "Successfully marrying the tart wit of a traditional Regency romance with the steamy passion of today's Regency historicals isn't easy, but Kelly proves to be more than capable." –Booklist "Guaranteed to satisfy even the most passionate romance reader." --Teresa Medeiros, New York Times bestselling author of The Devil Wears Plaid Their marriage was convenient. . . Simon St. James, fifth Earl of Trask, knows he could do worse in the marriage of convenience department. Sophie Stanton may be a bit of a social liability, with her ungovernable ways and flighty nature, but Simon has responsibilities as an earl that far outweigh happiness in the household. And as for happiness in the bedroom. . .he has to admit he sees Sophie's potential in that arena. . . Their passion was not! But Sophie isn't some bargaining chip to be traded, and she's not about to let Simon St. James tell her how to live her life--even though she has nurtured a crush on the handsome young earl for as long as she can remember. If his idea of courtship is telling her what to do, then she is not interested, or at least she is trying not to be. But when his scolding words turn to scorching kisses, suddenly Sophie starts paying attention. . . My Favorite Countess She is difficult, demanding, and at times, quite fierce. And Dr. John Blackmore can't take his eyes off her. The Countess of Randolph is the most striking woman he has ever seen. . .and the most infuriating patient he has ever tended. Mired in responsibility, Bathsheba doesn't have time to convalesce in the country. She should be in London, hunting for a wealthy new lover to pay off her late husband's vast debts, not dallying with a devastatingly handsome doctor. But it is only a matter of time until the good doctor and the obstinate countess will have to contend with the sparks that fly between them. And once their bodies surrender, their hearts may follow. . .

Book excerpt: Success or failure is too often tied to abstract principles without practical application. The autobiography of James E. McEachern presents in "high definition" his story attempting to bridge that gap. His life story continually emphasizes the relationship of faith, personal growth, and effort to success. In Today is My Favorite Day, you will learn the principles for transforming dreams into reality. You will also learn how goal setting in all areas of life can bring about the future you desire. This isn't the power of "magical thinking" but the power of goals and sustained effort over a life-time toward a predetermined end. It was Jim's greatest hope that by telling his story others would understand the secrets of his success and from this realize their own possibilities for succeeding in life.

Book excerpt: There are hundreds of records that I have loved over the course of my life. Some of these records have faded into the depths of my subconscious. Fortunately, most of them have stayed with me year after year remaining fresh in my memory, alive in my heart. I compiled my first “Favorites List” in 1983, and it contained about 600 recordings. Most of the records on the original list are still there today. My current list consists of about 900 recordings. And the list is still growing as I continue to be introduced to more music. You may be familiar with Rolling Stone’s 2004 cover story, “The 500 Greatest Songs of All-Time.” This is certainly a comprehensive compendium on the subject, so why should I bother writing this book? Because I’m taking a different approach, a personal approach. There’s a difference between the “greatest songs” as determined by professional music critics, and someone’s “favorite records.” I’m not a music critic or a musicologist. I’m just a guy who loves good music. Nonetheless, I believe my opinions have value because of the strong connection I have with each record. The primary purpose of this book is to draw us together using our favorite music as the catalyst. In the process of getting to know someone, a commonly asked question is: “What kind of music do you like?” His or her answer usually reveals something about their personality. Not only will you learn what my favorite records are, you will learn about me, why I like these songs and how I came to discover them. I’m hoping to create conversations, not only between you and I, but between all American music lovers. Thousands upon thousands of songs have been recorded over the past 60 years. I’ve been an avid listener for most of my life, but there are still a lot of “hidden treasures” out there I’d love to find. I’m hoping you, by sharing your favorites with me, will help me to find them. I’m also hoping that I will inspire you to listen to some of my favorites. There is a treasure trove of great music out waiting to be enjoyed!

Book excerpt: Dr. Rick Taylor had delivered many babies as a doctor but he learned that being a parent was much more important and special than being a doctor when he watched the birth of his son. This very ordinary experience began an extraordinary journey shared by father and son. "Lessons of Life" meanders through the lives of Dr. Taylor and his son while exposing the unlikely situations where surprising lessons are learned. The value of the lessons is not in their uniqueness as much as in the pedestrian nature of their occurrence. Father and son each survive first loves, near death experiences and personal quests to find a place in life. The comparison of these experiences and the lessons learned provide readers with moments of joy as well as sadness. It is the familiarity of these events that remind readers to recognize their own lessons and appreciate their teachers.

Book excerpt: The instant #1 New York Times and USA Today best seller by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, the voices behind the hit podcast My Favorite Murder! Sharing never-before-heard stories ranging from their struggles with depression, eating disorders, and addiction, Karen and Georgia irreverently recount their biggest mistakes and deepest fears, reflecting on the formative life events that shaped them into two of the most followed voices in the nation. In Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered, Karen and Georgia focus on the importance of self-advocating and valuing personal safety over being ‘nice’ or ‘helpful.’ They delve into their own pasts, true crime stories, and beyond to discuss meaningful cultural and societal issues with fierce empathy and unapologetic frankness. “In many respects, Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered distills the My Favorite Murder podcast into its most essential elements: Georgia and Karen. They lay themselves bare on the page, in all of their neuroses, triumphs, failures, and struggles. From eating disorders to substance abuse and kleptomania to the wonders of therapy, Kilgariff and Hardstark recount their lives with honesty, humor, and compassion, offering their best unqualified life-advice along the way.” —Entertainment Weekly “Like the podcast, the book offers funny, feminist advice for survival—both in the sense of not getting killed and just, like, getting a job and working through your personal shit so you can pay your bills and have friends.” —Rolling Stone At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.
