Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Islam, Shalom and good will to those of the good will. This work is a combination of philosophies that are proven and verifiable, designed to bridge the gap between the abstract and the concrete. To quote an aspect of the divine feminine, "everything is on the other side of your sacrifice" and to sacrifice is to use your essence/energy to tap into your best reflection which is divine by nature. Life is science and science is built with formulae and formulae produces results which manifest what we think, see and experience. The great work deals with the S.E.L.F (Sacred Eternal Life Force) and purifying the temple ( body) so as to exist in a perpetual state of sublime and bring that light (Love) to the Earth Plane which is the upliftment of humanity and the binding/destruction and the casting out the beast (lower nature) in the Garden ( Consciousness). Be studious, be disciplined, be courageous (truthful), be Moor.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the age of Apple Watches and Fitbits, the concept of “health” emerges through an embodied experience of a digital health device or platform, not simply through the biomedical data it provides. Sensing Health: Bodies, Data, and Digital Health Technologies analyzes popular digital health technologies as aesthetic experiences to understand how these devices and platforms have impacted the way individuals perceive their bodies, behaviors, health, and well-being. By tracing design alongside embodied experiences of digital health, Kressbach shows how these technologies aim to quantify, track and regulate the body, while at the same time producing moments that bring the body’s affordances and relationship to the fore. This mediated experience of “health” may offer an alternative to biomedical definitions that define health against illness. To capture and analyze digital health experiences, Kressbach develops a method that combines descriptive practices from Film and Media Studies and Phenomenology. After examining the design and feedback structures of digital health platforms and devices, the author uses her own first-person accounts to analyze the impact of the technology on her body, behaviors, and perception of health. Across five chapters focused on different categories of digital health—menstrual trackers, sexual wellness technologies, fitness trackers, meditation and breathing technologies, and posture and running wearables—Sensing Health demonstrates a method of analysis that acknowledges and critiques the biomedical structures of digital health technology while remaining attentive to the lived experiences of users. Through a focus on the intersection of technological design and experience, this method can be used by researchers, scholars, designers, and developers alike.

Book excerpt: Written for DNP and PhD nursing programs, this text, based on a unique team-taught philosophy of science nursing courses, distills challenging content and delivers it in clear, highly accessible language for professors untrained in philosophy and their students. Authored by a nurse researcher/philosopher team who developed and taught this course for more than 7 years, the book provides a unique, integrated viewpoint that avoids esoteric and overly theoretical discussions and facilitates a clear connection between the philosophy of science and nursing science and practice. This second edition offers enhanced clarity and encompasses updates in philosophy of science interpretation, nursing practice and science, and a still-emerging practice epistemology. It is distinguished by its increased emphasis on DNP investigation that relies on a fundamental relationship with evidence-based practice, as well as the informational needs of the PhD student and the type of research the PhD graduate is expected to produce. The bulk of the text focuses on basic principles and concepts of the philosophy of science in regard to the education of both DNP and PhD nursing students. The book discusses the concept of nursing as a “practice discipline” within historical and sociological contexts, and addresses the importance of philosophy of science knowledge within a practice discipline. It examines the controversial question of how much philosophy of science a doctoral student actually needs. The text concludes with a brief introduction to nursing science knowledge content that is an essential “bridge” to the philosophy of science content and serves as a “next step” toward building a nursing epistemology. New to the Second Edition: Revised to enhance clarity of information Reflects contemporary trends in doctoral nursing education Updated Questions for Reflection offer scholarly discourse New appendix offers a sample semester-based syllabus based on the second edition Key Features: Provides concise, accessible information that makes clear connections to practical applications Written jointly by a philosopher and a nurse scholar who co-teach the course Facilitates student ability to see the real connection between philosophy and practice Increased focused content on how philosophy of science content is essential to understand evidence-based and practice-based evidence

Book excerpt: This book deals with the necessity for a revival of an ancient philosophical world-view, the world-view of holism, in order to solve current global problems. Today, worldwide problems such as the threat of nuclear war and environmental destruction, poverty, and drug-related crime demand a global approach. Such a global approach is found in holism, the philosophy which claims that reality is an interconnected, interdependent whole, which radically changes the nature of each element within it. The author applies the holistic approach to the natural and social sciences, to art and religion, and then traces holism back to its roots in philosophy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Artificial intelligence (AI) is a complicated science that combines philosophy, cognitive psychology, neuroscience, mathematics and logic (logicism), economics, computer science, computability, and software. Meanwhile, robotics is an engineering field that compliments AI. There can be situations where AI can function without a robot (e.g., Turing Test) and robotics without AI (e.g., teleoperation), but in many cases, each technology requires each other to exhibit a complete system: having "smart" robots and AI being able to control its interactions (i.e., effectors) with its environment. This book provides a complete history of computing, AI, and robotics from its early development to state‐of‐the‐art technology, providing a roadmap of these complicated and constantly evolving subjects. Divided into two volumes covering the progress of symbolic logic and the explosion in learning/deep learning in natural language and perception, this first volume investigates the coming together of AI (the mind) and robotics (the body), and discusses the state of AI today. Key Features: Provides a complete overview of the topic of AI, starting with philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, and logicism, and extending to the action of the robots and AI needed for a futuristic society Provides a holistic view of AI, and touches on all the misconceptions and tangents to the technologies through taking a systematic approach Provides a glossary of terms, list of notable people, and extensive references Provides the interconnections and history of the progress of technology for over 100 years as both the hardware (Moore’s Law, GPUs) and software, i.e., generative AI, have advanced Intended as a complete reference, this book is useful to undergraduate and postgraduate students of computing, as well as the general reader. It can also be used as a textbook by course convenors. If you only had one book on AI and robotics, this set would be the first reference to acquire and learn about the theory and practice.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, one of America's leading philosophers offers a sweeping reconsideration of the philosophy of culture in the twentieth century. Morton White argues that the discipline is much more important than is often recognized, and that his version of holistic pragmatism can accommodate its breadth. Going beyond Quine's dictum that philosophy of science is philosophy enough, White suggests that it should contain the word "culture" in place of "science." He defends the holistic view that scientific belief is tested by experience but that such testing is rightly applied to systems or conjunctions of beliefs, not isolated beliefs. He adds, however, that we test ethical systems by appealing to feelings of moral obligation as well as to sensory experiences. In the course of his lucidly written analysis, White treats central issues in the philosophy of science, of religion, of art, of history, of law, of politics, and of morality. While doing so he examines the views of Quine, Tarski, Goodman, and Rawls, and shows how they are related to the approaches of Peirce, James, Duhem, Russell, Dewey, Carnap, and the later Wittgenstein. He also discusses the ideas of the legal philosophers Holmes and Hart from a holistic standpoint. White demonstrates how his version of pragmatism bridges the traditional gulf between analytic and synthetic truth as well as that between moral and scientific belief. Indeed, the high point of the book is a brilliant presentation of his view of ethics, based on the idea that our scientific theories face the tribunal of observation whereas our ethical views face the joint tribunal of observation and moral feeling. Scholars and students of the history of ideas and of philosophy will welcome A Philosophy of Culture as the highly finished product of more than sixty years of philosophical reflection by an important thinker.
