Es soll klar werden, dass der Lehrerberuf mehrere Tätigkeiten hat, als geradlinigen und trockenen Unterrichtsstoff zu vermitteln und ihn so abstimmt, dass Hochbegabte neben normalen Schülern sitzen können, Hochbegabte aber durchaus in ihrer Freizeit gefördert werden sollten. Es wird der Versuch unternommen grundlegende Begriffe, wie Hochbegabung, Motivation, deren verschiedene Arten zu erklären und diese dabei in den Kontext der Schule und der Förderung hochbegabter Schüler zu bringen. Es wird außerdem auf das Zusammenspiel von Motivation und Hochbegabung eingegangen und daraufhin Möglichkeiten genannt, wie Lehrer die Motivation und die generelle Lernbereitschaft von hochbegabten Schülern fördern können. Des Weiteren sollte klar werden von welchen Faktoren das schulische Leistungsverhalten abhängig ist und welche Faktoren beispielsweise zu negativen Erfahrungen führen können. Sind es Lob und Anerkennung die hochbegabte Schüler zum effektiven Lernen bringen oder doch eher Zusatzaufgaben? Sind es zu hohe Erwartungen der Eltern oder Lehrer, die die Lernmotivation der Schüler beeinflussen oder gar einschränken und damit der Stereotyp „gelangweilter Schüler“ entsteht? Vor allem für den Lehrerberuf sind solche oder ähnliche Fragen von hoher Bedeutung, da sie mit vielen Schülertypen zu tun haben und daher sensibel auf diese abgestimmt sein müssen. Hochbegabte Schüler müssen gefördert werden, damit sie ihre Qualitäten kennen lernen, sich weiterentwickeln und ihre Hochbegabung entfalten können und nicht, dass sie womöglich unerkannt bleibt. Selbst wenn das Interesse für viele Fächer oder Themenbereiche nicht besteht, muss es womöglich die Aufgabe des Lehrers bleiben, Motivationsförderung im großen Rahmen zu betreiben, denn im Verlaufe wird auch klar, dass Hochbegabung nicht immer auf jeden Teilbereich der Schule oder auf jedes Fach zutreffend ist.
