According to the author, Saint-Aubert, a bishop of Avranches erected, at the commencement of the eighth century a church in honour of Saint-Michel who had appeared to him several times in his dreams: ... In 708, Saint-Aubert who had overcome, with the help of God, all the difficulties attending the building of his church, and who knew the dimensions which the archangel Saint-Michel wished, worked at it himself.
