Download or read book No Sleep written by DJ Stretch Armstrong and published by powerHouse Books. This book was released on 2016-11-23 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No Sleepis a visual history of the halcyon days of New York City club life as told through flyer art. Spanning the late 80s through the late 90s, when nightlife buzz travelled via flyers and word of mouth,No Sleepfeatures a collection of artwork from the personal archives of NYC DJs, promoters, club kids, nightlife impresarios, and the artists themselves. Club flyers, by design, were ephemeral objects distributed on street corners, outside of nightclubs and concert halls, in barbershops and retail shops, and were not intended to be preserved for posterity. Through the 90s, they became both increasingly prevalent and more sophisticated as printing technology evolved. Overnight, however, with the advent of the internet, theflyer essentially disappeared, despite it being common at one time for promoters to print thousands of flyers for any given event. Recently, these flyers have become sought-after collector's items.

Book Synopsis My Experience with Time Travel: A hip hop musician urban science truth by : David Turner
Download or read book My Experience with Time Travel: A hip hop musician urban science truth written by David Turner and published by Traveling Merchant. This book was released on with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As this book is a real story that depicts real events, there is no fancy flying saucers or huge explosions and effects. There are no space creatures and aliens although I am not discounting anyone that has seen them. This is a real story that appears normal on the surface, except for prison time as most people do not go to prison (I don’t think). The prison time, although abnormal for most of the population is a normal prison (I suppose as I haven’t been to too many). However, it is within this buried dark place, where the seed of interest was planted and started to grow. This seed occurred yet before prison in the Hip Hop Studio of my former home; Muzak Studios where I encountered strange anomalies while recording. Coupling this with a dream I had while in prison, stirred the passion and lust for learning in this field. After my release, I was embraced with a world of technology and information that was unprecedented before my release and I have leveraged that to learn more about this phenomenon of time travel and distortion.

After experiencing head trauma from an automobile accident Hip Hop lies comatose on a hospital gurney when a devilish nightmare transports him back to the year 1855 and thrust him in the role of a plantation slave so he can get a taste of the disrespect he slam dunked on his fellow students. Hence, our story follows his torment when he is beaten with a bull whip; branded with a red-hot poker; forced to pick cotton; and forced to eat rotting food from a pig's trough. Finally, we will follow him and his adopted family's desperate attempt to flee the plantation with a pack of hungry dogs hot on their trail. We shall see how Hip Hop is forced to learn some valuable lessons about tolerating people different from himself, lessons that are remedial to the violent breaking news we see on TV every day. So for the sake of our families let's learn Hip Hop's lesson together; after all, can't one great lesson be enough for all of us?
