Book Synopsis Half-life Measurements of the 144Pm Isotope with Γ-spectroscopy by :
Download or read book Half-life Measurements of the 144Pm Isotope with Γ-spectroscopy written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: The accurate half-life information for reaction products is very crucial in order to measure the cross section of a reaction via the activation method. Precise and accurate cross section measurement of reactions which are resulting in 144 Pm requires the precise half-life value of this isotope. The adopted half-life of 144 Pm has a relatively high uncertainty and conflicting data can be found in the literature. In order to mitigate this controversy and to reduce the uncertainty, the half-life of 144 Pm is measured with gamma spectroscopy. Experimental methods and preliminary results are presented.

Book Synopsis Radioisotope Gauges for Industrial Process Measurements by : Geir Anton Johansen
Download or read book Radioisotope Gauges for Industrial Process Measurements written by Geir Anton Johansen and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2004-10-22 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In order to fully utilise nucleonic measurement principles and their applications, it is important to have an understanding of the underlying physics. Radioisotope Gauges for Industrial Process Measurements combines theoretical background with practical experience in order to present an accessible overview of the use of radioisotopes in industry. This unique book explains the modes of operation of installed gauges and presents nucleonic methods relevant to measurement problems. The first part of the book deals with radiation sources, the interaction of radiation with matter and radiation detectors. The second part explains the different measurement principles used for industrial gauges and the last part of the book covers industrial applications. This book also: Features a concise introduction to atomic and nuclear physics. Presents a range of nucleonic measurement methods and highlights their application to a variety of problems. Contains an overview of electronics, measurement accuracy, safety and standards. Considers processes and demands, design strategies and practical realisation of measurement systems. Provides many practical engineering examples. Offering a comprehensive coverage of engineering applications, this book is an essential tool for electrical, electronic and instrument engineers in the oil and chemicals processing sectors. It is also a valuable reference to graduate students and physicists involved in nuclear radiation measurement, medical applications, radiochemical research, environmental monitoring and chemical engineering.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Handbook of Radioactivity Analysis is written by experts in the measurement of radioactivity. The book describes the broad scope of analytical methods available and instructs the reader on how to select the proper technique. It is intended as a practical manual for research which requires the accurate measurement of radioactivity at all levels, from the low levels encountered in the environment to the high levels measured in radioisotope research. This book contains sample preparation procedures, recommendations on steps to follow, necessary calculations, computer controlled analysis, and high sample throughput techniques. Each chapter includes practical techniques for application to nuclear safety, nuclear safeguards, environmental analysis, weapons disarmament, and assays required for research in biomedicine and agriculture. The fundamentals of radioactivity properties, radionuclide decay, and methods of detection are included to provide the basis for a thorough understanding of the analytical procedures described in the book. Therefore, the Handbook can also be used as a teaching text. Includes sample preparation techniques for matrices such as soil, air, plant, water, animal tissue, and surface swipes Provides procedures and guidelines for the analysis of commonly encountered na
