Book Synopsis Annual Review and Forecast of Utah Coal Production and Distribution — 2007 by : Michael D. Vanden Berg
Download or read book Annual Review and Forecast of Utah Coal Production and Distribution — 2007 written by Michael D. Vanden Berg and published by Utah Geological Survey. This book was released on 2008-08 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Utah’s coal industry experienced a difficult and tragic year in 2007. The terrible circumstances surrounding the unexpected closure of the Crandall Canyon mine, followed by the idling of the Aberdeen mine, resulted in a 7.1% decrease in Utah coal production to a total of 24.3 million short tons. These closures also resulted in a 5.3% loss in mine-related employment. In addition, difficult mining conditions at Canyon Fuel Company’s SUFCO and Dugout Canyon mines contributed to production declines. On the brighter side, Canyon Fuel’s Skyline mine, with a full-year of longwall operation, increased its production by 45.4% and UtahAmerican’s West Ridge mine increased its production by 34.3%. Also noteworthy are record production for both Carbon County and State lands, and a 20-year high in the average price for a short ton of Utah coal: $25.18. Distribution of Utah coal decreased slightly in 2007 to 24.5 million short tons, while out-of-state coal imports hit a 20-year low of only 1.5 million tons.

Book excerpt: Discovering Your Inner Beauty This book is a pilgrimage in search of that indefinable something that all of us, at some time or other in our lives, feel is missing – what Osho describes as our “hidden splendor.” “You go on missing something – something that you had known but you have forgotten – a faded memory, a lost remembrance. And the gap is not only a gap, it is a wound. It hurts, because you had brought something with your birth into the world and you have lost it somewhere. And it seems impossible to find it in this crowded universe. But unless it happens, your life has been in vain, a misery, a suffering, a futile longing, a meaningless desire, a thirst that you know cannot be quenched.” — Osho

Download or read book Riding the Line written by Rex Taylor and published by Hillcrest Publishing Group. This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Riding dirt bikes solo in remote areas is not conducive to safety. The two most basic rules of safety are: don't go out alone, and always tell someone your itinerary. But most of the time, Rex Taylor rode alone. That greatly increased the danger, but simplified his logistics. And it was just not possible to tell anyone his plans, because he rarely had more than a general idea himself, of his route or destination. The risks were worth the thrill of riding a high-powered machine, across landscapes of unsurpassed natural beauty, in total isolation. He could rely on nothing but pluck, and a lot of luck. And his luck held, to an unlikely degree. A flat tire, a broken bike part, a broken body part, or running out of gas, could have meant disaster, or death. But he tried not to think about that too much.

Book Synopsis HENRY OF OFTERDINGEN by : Friedrich von Hardenberg
Download or read book HENRY OF OFTERDINGEN written by Friedrich von Hardenberg and published by BEYOND BOOKS HUB. This book was released on 2021-01-01 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Probably some of the readers of this volume will feel an interest in the author's life. Although there are but few works, in which the mind of the author is more clearly and purely reflected than in this; yet it is natural that the reader should feel some interest in the outward circumstances of one, who has become dear to him; and those friends of Novalis, who have never known him personally, will be glad to hear all that we can bring to light concerning him. The Baron of Hardenberg, the father of the author, was director of the Saxonian salt works. He had been a soldier in his younger days, and retained even in his old age a predilection for a military life. He was a robust, ever active man, frank and energetic;--a pure German. The pious character of his mind led him to join the Moravian community; yet he remained frank, decided, and upright. His mother, a type of elevated piety and Christian meekness, belonged to the same religious community. She bore with lofty resignation the loss, within a few successive years, of a blooming circle of hopeful and well educated children.
