"Marzi's charming and irreverent illustrations are exactly what young and old introverts need to approach their temperament with wisdom and self-affirmation." --Susan Cain, author of Quiet Whoever said there's strength in numbers lied. Meet Marzi. She's an introvert who often finds herself in awkward situations. Marzi used to feel strange about her introverted tendencies. Not anymore! Now she knows that there are tons of introverts out there just like her--introverts who enjoy peace and quiet, need time alone to recharge their battery, and who prefer staying in with their pet and a good book to awkward social interactions. Just like Marzi, these introverts can often be found in libraries, at home watching Netflix, brainstorming excuses to miss your next party, or doodling cute cartoons. Being an introvert in an extrovert world isn't always easy, but it certainly is an adventure. In Introvert Doodles, follow Marzi through all of her most uncomfortable, charming, honest, and hilarious moments that everyone--introvert, extrovert, or somewhere in between--can relate to.

Download or read book Life Is... written by Ray Rouse and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2007-05 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life is . is a roller coaster ride. It has peaks of exhilaration and valleys of despair. The author will make you happy and at times he will tug at your heartstrings. When he feels that the reader may be stretched a little, he will take you off the roller coaster. He will take you on a trip, tell you funny stories, and philosophize about life in general. He will quote scriptures to support his feelings about why things happen as they do. But rest assured, he will put you back on that roller coaster. When I finished the manuscript and laid it down, I had a hard time letting it go. I started thinking about what life is to me. As I compared the author's ideas to my own, it occurred to me that is what the author intended. If it is, he accomplished his purpose. Charles R. Brown Ray Rouse was born on a farm in Lenoir County, NC, about five miles west of the City of Kinston. He was born in 1924, the youngest of nine children-seven boys and two girls-including two sets of twin boys. His father was a renter of farms, having lost his own farm through fiscal difficulties in 1918. The family moved off the farm and into Kinston when Ray was six years old. Those were hard times in which family members dropped out of school in order to find jobs to help support the family. After surviving the Great Depression and thirty three months in the US Army during World War II, he married Annie Phillips after a courtship of two years-and became father of a son and daughter. He retired from the insurance profession at age seventy. He and his wife live a quiet and enjoyable life in Kinston, NC, a city of about 23,000 population.
Book Synopsis Visits From the Drowned Girl by : Steven Sherrill
Download or read book Visits From the Drowned Girl written by Steven Sherrill and published by Diversion Books. This book was released on 2014-06-10 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author of cult classic THE MINOTAUR TAKES A CIGARETTE BREAK comes a dark narrative that begs the question: at what point do we become responsible for the things that we see? Benny Poteat observes the world from above, working hundreds of feet in the air repairing tension lines. He's seen a lot of things from this vantage point, but nothing can compare to watching a girl die. She approaches the river that snakes far below him and walks purposefully into the rushing water, never to reappear. Startled at both what he’s witnessed and his inability to prevent it, what Benny does next will forever alter the course of his life: He does nothing. He gathers up the drowned girl’s belongings and doesn’t tell a soul what he saw. Instead, Benny visits the address on a business card he finds in the drowned girl’s bag and slowly insinuates himself into the life she once lived. But even as he immerses himself in her world, he wonders: What does it mean to watch someone die? And what can explain his strange attraction to the drowned girl? VISITS FROM THE DROWNED GIRL is an unforgettable tale about the seductive but ultimately pernicious nature of secrecy. As Benny struggles to figure out what to do and who to tell, his burden becomes unbearable, and the secrets he keeps threaten to pull him under.
