Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What are the driving forces behind your marriage and your interpersonal relationships? Would you like to connect with your partner on a deeper level and further enrich your marriage? If so, When Heaven Meets Earth is a great starting point. Inspired by her 35 years of experience in counseling, her several presentations in India and the U.S. on marriage and interpersonal relationships, and her extensive research on marriage and family, Dr. Singhal describes the skills and practices necessary to create a well-functioning and lasting partnership through the lens of the seven Hindu marriage vows. Though these promises were crucial rituals in her own wedding, it wasn’t until decades later that she realized their inherent wisdom. Singhal has expounded on these vows in this book, enriching them with stories from her own marriage and the partnerships of her clients, family and friends. She makes the case that the value of these vows is relevant even in the 21st century and all over the world, arguing that a meaningful marriage is founded on the universal ideals of mutual respect, commitment, trust and the union of two souls. “Swarna’s curiosity for the original meanings of vows takes us on a journey to ancient India and back. She applies traditional beliefs and wisdom to today’s real worlds. Seeking that clarity heightens our appreciation of life, love and self-worth. It’s a recipe for all that seek to be loved deep into our core. A nurturing must-read for all!” - Darshi Shah, CNT/Author, RIGHT Diet for Autoimmunity

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: St. Brigitta of Sweden (1303-73, canonized 1391) was one of the most charismatic and influential visionaries of the later Middle Ages. Altogether, she received some seven hundred revelations, dealing with subjects ranging from meditations on the human condition, domestic affairs in Sweden, and ecclesiastical matters in Rome, to revelations in praise of the Incarnation and devotion to the Virgin. Her Revelations, collected and ordered by her confessors, circulated widely throughout Europe and long after her death. Many eminent individuals, including Cardinal Juan Torquemada, Jean Gerson, and Martin Luther, read and commented on her writings, which influenced the spiritual lives of countless individuals. Birgitta was also the founder of a new monastic order which still exists today. She is the patron saint of Sweden and in 2000 was declared (with Catherine of Siena and Edith Stein) co-patroness of Europe. Birgitta's Revelations present her as a commanding and dauntless visionary who develops a contemplative mysticism that is always interwoven with social engagement and a commitment to the salvation of the world. The varied styles of her revelations are dominated by frequent juxtapositions of memorable images and allegories that illustrate her fierce and fertile imagination, her sharp powers of observation and understanding, and her passionate and receptive storytelling powers. This is the second of four volumes and it contains Book IV and Book V of the Revelations. Book IV includes some of Birgitta's most influential visions, with topics ranging from the Avignon papacy and purgatory, to the Hundred Years' War. Book V, the Liber Quaestionum (Book of Questions), takes the form of a learned dialogue between Christ and a monk standing on a ladder fixed between heaven and earth. The argument centers on the way in which God's providence is constantly misunderstood and rejected by self-centered human beings. The translation is based on the recently completed critical edition of the Latin text and promises to be the standard English translation of the Revelations for years to come.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bouvard and Pecuchet opens with two middle-aged copy-clerks who become fast friends after meeting on a city bench and discovering their shared habit of writing their names in their hats: "I should say so! Someone could walk off with mine at the office!" When a small inheritance allows Bouvard and Pecuchet to retire early and move to the country, they use their newfound leisure time to satisfy their curiosity about all the things they'd been too busy to study in the city. Flaubert shows his unlikely protagonists diving disastrously into everything from farming and politics to literature and love, and coming up empty-handed each time - until, finally, their obsessive pursuit of knowledge becomes an end in itself.

Book excerpt: This carefully crafted ebook: "Bouvard and Pécuchet - A Satirical Novel (Complete Edition)" is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. Bouvard et Pécuchet details the adventures of two Parisian copy-clerks, François Denys Bartholomée Bouvard and Juste Romain Cyrille Pécuchet, of the same age and nearly identical temperament. They meet one hot summer day in 1838 by the canal Saint-Martin and form an instant, symbiotic friendship. The work resembles the earlier Sentimental Education in that the plot structure is episodic, giving it a picaresque quality. Gustave Flaubert (1821-1880) was an influential French writer who was perhaps the leading exponent of literary realism of his country. He is known especially for his first published novel, Madame Bovary and for his scrupulous devotion to his style and aesthetics. The celebrated short story writer Maupassant was a protégé of Flaubert.

Lying by the road, he felt a tug whisking him off into a tunnel of light. He found himself in a blessed place. He was shown that God created the Earth to nourish and heal mankind and that our sense of separation from each other and the divine is of our own making. He met his Divine Teacher and received a series of profound lessons - Eight Revelations about the nature of Heaven and Earth. Tommy returned to Earth with a heightened sense of connection to one and all. But the bliss of Heaven was quickly replaced by a long and painful recovery, and Tommy struggled to make sense of all that he had learned. Around the same time, Dr Stephen Sinatra, an integrative cardiologist, was revolutionizing his medical practice with a holistic approach to treatment. When a chance meeting brought the two men together, they gradually came to realize that the revelations of healing Tommy gleaned from his near-death experience aligned with the groundbreaking results Dr Sinatra was seeing in his own practice and scientific research. Health Revelations from Heaven and Earth brings divine wisdom together with the science of how we can live as God intended. Let this book lead you toward revitalized health, a newfound sense of purpose, and spiritual balance. Fully corroborated by Dr Sinatra's four decades of medical expertise, these divine lessons bring Heaven and Earth a little bit closer.
